IE8 is the last Internet Explorer - Gazelle to replace it (Exclusive)
With the recent information
surfacing that
Microsoft is considering Webkit to be used in Internet Explorer, it got people wondering if Microsoft would really give up on
their own rendering engine. Today, we received a tip that Microsoft was in fact giving up on their own rendering engine. Not just their engine though,
but the whole Internet Explorer browser.
Our reliable source notes that Internet Explorer 8, which just was said to have
RTMed a few weeks ago will be the last Internet Explorer that
Microsoft will ever make. Their new browser, which the name of which has not yet been released, will feature a fresh start. It is unclear whether or
not it will use Webkit, or another rendering engine. What is clear though is that Microsoft is ready to drop their heavily used, and criticized
browser for something that will be new and fresh.
On another note, our source stated that currently the successor to Windows 7, will be
named Windows 8, and they plan on using the numerical number from now on. Please take all of this with an extra grain of salt, since it is still very
early in the planning period of Windows 8 (Since Windows 7 isn't even completed yet), and the Internet Explorer 8 team is just wrapping up their
development.
Update! It seems like the name of IE's successor has been confimed to be Gazelle. It is more secure than FireFox and
Chrome; keeping plug-in's and downloads within the browser, so it will not affect the PC if you get a virus.
We have also been able to
get into touch with a few other reliable sources claiming this to be true.

06.03.2009Refreshed 4/8GB Zunes Coming?
From Long Zheng's blog:
"Several hours ago Microsoft released the Zune Spring 2008 Update with a new Zune software package (version 2.5).
Embedded in the resource files is an interesting image of a new red "Scorpius" (4/8GB) Zune. Instead of the model available today with a silver
backing and red touchpad, this had a black backing and black touchpad.
For any skeptics out there, the two images have notably different
positioned logos which confirms these are not the same images colored differently."

09.05.2008iTunes: $1.29 for a popular song on April 7th
iTunes is the most popular online distribution channel for downloading songs and it's now going to get more expensive starting April 7th. The LA
Times is reporting that Apple has been notifying record labels of the soon to be price bump but has yet to announce it publicly. "True to
supply-and-demand economics, the price of music downloads will be geared to the artist's popularity. Releases from new artists would receive the
lower pricing, while tracks from popular acts would get slapped with the higher rate. Even classics, such as Bruce Springsteen's "Born in the
USA," could retail for the higher price.

13.04.2009Steve Jobs Overseeing Apple Tablet/Netbook?
One aspect of the Wall Street Journal article published today that we failed to mention in our previous coverage was that Apple is indeed working on a
new type of device.
According to The Wall Street Journal's sources, Apple is working on a portable device that is "smaller than its
current laptop computers but bigger than the iPhone or iPod Touch."
No other details were provided but there have been ongoing rumors
that Apple has been working on either a tablet or netbook device. In fact, some reports even combine the two concepts into a single touchscreen
device. Netbooks traditionally resemble smaller laptop computers and typically include a keyboard. Apple's ongoing research into multi-touch,
however, has generated speculation that Apple may incorporate more advanced gesturing into a future device.

19.11.2008iLife '09 and iWork '09 Released
Today, at Apples final appearance at MacWorld, the popular software applications iLife 09 and iWork 09 were both updated.
iWork 09,
which comes with Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, had many very useful features added. Pages received a decent amount of updates, with a full screen view
of documents, dynamic outlines, integration with MathType and EndNote, and 40 new themes included. In Keynote, there are several new transitions and
chart options. Apple released a new keynote remote app for the iPhone/iPod Touch that will allow you to control and preview your slide show. The app
however is not free surprisingly and will cost $0.99. Numbers got 250 new functions to make things easier to understand. Most notable however is the
future launch of iWork.com. This will be a fee-based service that will allow others to review and edit your documents online.
iLife 09,
including iPhoto, iMovie, iWeb, and GarageBand, also had its fare share of updates today. This version of iLife will only run on Mac OS X Leopard.
iMovie had received dynamic themes, automatic image stabilization, precision editor, advanced drag and drop, and video effects. In iPhoto, faces
(facial recognition), places (using GPS locations to tag areas in photos), and slideshow themes (using facial dedication to property position pictures
in a slide show) were all added. Finally, in GarageBand, music lessons by professionals and celebrities were added. A few are included, but additional
lessons cost $4.99 each to download.
iLife 09, iWork 09, and OS X Leopard are all available in the Mac Box Set costing $169.00.
Individually, iLife and iWork cost $79.00 each for a single user license and $99.00 each for a family license, which allows you to install to program
on up to five Mac computers in your household. Apple computers purchased between January 6, 2009 and March 28, 2009 that do not include iLife 09 can
be upgraded for $9.95 through Apple. All software titles are expected to be shipping in late January.

07.01.2009Report: 40 Gbps DWDM in 1/3 of fiber optic networks by 2013
Networking and Telecommunications researchers The Dell'Oro Group published a report yesterday forecasting the next five years for DWDM in long haul
fiber optic networks that expects the market for 40 Gbps wavelengths to grow by 50% every year. Short for Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing, DWDM
is an optical technology used to fit more traffic (thus making it "dense" with signals) on existing fiber optic backbones.
This
week, General Cable Corp and Fujitsu
won
their bid for a 1,000 mile long haul submarine fiber optic cable project connecting the Indonesian islands of Kalimantan and Sulawesi. That
project is scheduled for completion in mid-2010.
"While the near term outlook is for the total optical market to contract 9 percent due
to factors such as the economic downturn, " Said Jimmy Yu, Director of Optical Transport research at Dell'Oro, "There continues to be an
opportunity for technologies that will help service providers reduce their capital expense while still expanding their network capacity...40 Gigabit
is one of those technologies as the price per bit of a 40 Gbps wavelength starts to be lower than that of a 10 Gigabit wavelength in a DWDM Long Haul
system."..

29.05.2009Windows 7 Ultimate cracked and activated with OEM master key
Windows 7 has yet to even be released officially to the general public, and already the dodgy folk on the Internet have fully cracked and activated
the Ultimate version, with help from a leaked Lenovo OEM DVD .ISO file. The news comes from website My Digital Life who state that you can already
pass Windows Genuine Advantage validation offline, OEM style. The leaked .ISO was originally posted on a Chinese forum, which was then downloaded in
order for people to get hold of the boot.wim, and in turn retrieving the OEM-SLP key, plus the OEM activation certificate. Microsoft uses the same
digitally signed OEM certificate, which has an .xrm-ms extension, as that in Windows Vista.

16.03.2009XP SP3 Released to MSDN/TechNet Subscriber Downloads
While the
planned release schedule for XP SP3 stated MSDN/TechNet
subscribers would be receiving the update on May 2, a few days after the public release, Microsoft appears to have listened to the numerous complaints
on its TechNet forums and has posted the bits to both the
MSDN and
TechNet Subscriber
Downloads.
Or, another possible reason for the early release could be that there wasn't
that much demand for Vista SP1 after all?
