Microsoft has just made the updated release candidate of the Windows Live Suite wave 3 at download.live.com. Thanks to Sean Bradford for alerting us. Microsoft has updated the Messenger client to Version 2009 (Build 14.0.8050.1202) as can be seen below from the about Window: There is no beta tag anywhere on this build as it's a near final build and Messenger plus does work with this build but not all features are usable. Overall the UI has been enhanced in most areas with minor changes. The main improvements are the integration to Windows 7 with the new jump lists feature.

Broadscale Windows Live Wave 3 beta begins

According to the independent LiveSide.net site that tracks all things Microsoft-Live-related, Microsoft is kicking off the official Windows Live Wave 3 family of betas on September 17 and they have a download link from Microsoft.com to prove it.



Wave 3 is the newest release of the core Windows Live suite of software and services. In the new suite, unified via a common installer, are updated versions of Windows Live Messenger instant-messaging; Windows Live Mail (with a new and improved Live Calendar); Windows Live Writer blog-posting tool; Windows Live Movie Maker; Windows Live Photo Gallery, the Family Safety parental control tools and the Outlook Connector.

Last week we were told to expect the Windows Live Wave 3 web services by the end of the year, with the Windows Live Wave 3 client applications following soon after. Microsoft hints at Windows Live Wave 3 release date

In an email sent to users of it's MSN Direct service, Microsoft states that the release to market date of Windows Live Messenger is February 10, 2009.

At the same time the company is expected to release the forthcoming updates for Windows Live Mail, Windows Live Photo Gallery, Windows Live Writer, and the rest of the Windows Live Suite.

Microsoft is slowly developing Wave 3 as the next version of its messenger product has been in development for some months now.

Company officials were unavailable for comment at the time of writing.

There is no beta tag anywhere on this build as it's a near final build and Messenger plus does work with this build but not all features are usable.

Overall the UI has been enhanced in most areas with minor changes. The main improvements are the integration to Windows 7 and jump lists.

The sign in for Windows Live Messenger has changed slightly but nothing big.

At the time of writing, it is not known what is new or what has been fixed with this wave of QFE patches. These patches apply to the Windows Live 2008 (Wave 3) applications. Microsoft has yet to make the official announcement regarding this second wave of QFE patches, but as soon as we hear something we'll let you know what has been updated/fixed. The leaks are picking up. Windo ws Live Wave 3 the next version of Microsoft’s Windows Live software and services is finally expected to move into broader beta testing in the coming weeks.



Microsoft is expected to refresh all of its core Windows Live services, plus the common installer, as part of Wave 3. There is a new version of Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Hotmail, Windows Live Mail, Windows Live Photo Gallery and more that are in the pipeline. Microsoft has hinted that it will be revamping Windows Live Spaces, its blogging/social-networking platform, in a major way as part of the Wave 3 release. In addition, all of the core Windows Live services are expected to get more profile-centric as part of the next wave.

Yesterday however, those were also updated with new features and gadgets. The New Live Wave 3 which seems to have been rolled out feaures Dynamic themes, updated Weather forecasts, and the ability to add pictures. The page itself also integrates a number of services. All your messenger contact info is sent to Windows Live Home, additionally, Office Workspaces has also been integrated to show all files and folders added. Now let's talk about SkyDrive. SkyDrive got a major boost. Last week you were able to store up to 5GB, now it has been boosted to 25GB.

Microsoft sends out Windows Live Messenger 9.0 beta invites

No sooner has the Windows Live Wave 2 suite been released than the first Wave 3 beta begins - Windows Live Messenger v9. Unlike the betas that have just finished, the Messenger v9 beta is being run from Microsoft Connect as a private beta, meaning that, for the moment at least, unless you receive an invite, you won't be able to participate.



For the moment it looks like most previous Windows Live testers are getting invites, so stay tuned to your inbox. With such a popular beta like this, you better sign up quick.



So what's new? While the goodies aren't yet available, we've heard about Multiple Points Of Presence (MPOP) support, which allows you to signin from multiple devices, ie be online at two places at once.

Windows Live Wave 3 - Updated Messenger expected next week

At an event in the Netherlands yesterday, Darren Huston, Corporate Vice President of COI at Microsoft, revealed that the updated Windows Live Wave 3 RC applications will be released next week. LiveSide bloggers were on hand to get the scoop that the applications will be released next week at download.live.com. Final versions of Hotmail, Calendar and People are expected in February 2009 too. The Messenger Wave 3 RC will include the new UI we revealed at PDC and Messenger icon, shown below.

The betas just keep rolling. With Windows Live Wave 2 out, Wave 3 is now starting up. Several users have reported that invitations for the upcoming Windows Live Messenger 9 Beta program have been sent out.



The email states that they are "running a small private beta to get early feedback on the new features". No other details have been provided as of yet.
