With the public Windows 7 release candidate right around the corner, and development towards the RTM on track, people are wondering "When is the
final release date for Windows 7?" With many dates flying around, I personally think that Windows 7 will be out later this year, and here's why:
First, let's back up a bit. Microsoft has set an internal date of January, 2010, approximately 3 years after Vista. Now let's say for the sake
of argument that turns out to be true. This would be a big mistake for Microsoft because they'll miss the crucial holiday season, when obviously
people will be buying new computers and software, and we all remember how badly Vista's release went.

15.05.2008Windows Vista Security One Year Later
Now that Windows Vista has been available to business customers for more than a year, it’s a good time to go back and look at how it’s
holding up from a security perspective. I think that it’s fair to say that Windows Vista is proving to be the most secure version of the
Windows to date. Our investments in the SDL and our defense in depth approach to building Windows Vista seem to be paying off. Let’s take a
look at some areas that we’ve made progress in: the impact of defense-in-depth; Internet Explorer 7’s protection of personal information;
vulnerabilities and infections; and cost savings. First, let’s look at the impact of defense-in-depth features like User Account Control and
Internet Explorer Protected Mode. These features have helped reduce both the risk and severity of security bulletins, giving enterprises more time to
deploy patches:

24.01.2008Happy New Year from JCXP!
Well, 2007 is just around the
bend and has even come for
some already, so we would like
to take this moment to wish
you all a Happy New Year! :)
2006 was quite a
year, especially in the
software world. The most
significant events of course
would be the RTM of Windows
Vista and Office 2007. It went
by fast, and sure was one heck
of a year.
We've gone through many
structural changes this year
with staff and how we operate
the site, finally I think
we've found the right
balance, one of the biggest
things we've done has been to
strongly enforce our "no
warez" policy. You can expect
a few "changes" in the
coming year of 2007 to our
site, just keep patient and
wait :P *cough 2.0*
We thank you all for
sticking with us this year and
we hope you're all going to
be here a lot longer, we've
met a good few good people
here and we hope to meet a
good few more!
So
once again, Happy New Year to
all, let's enjoy 2006 while
it lasts and let's make sure
we make the most of 2007!
Also, please remember
to drink responsibly, know
your limits and take it easy.
Make sure you and your friends
get home safe tonight (Yes,
even if it involves you
putting their keys down your
pants to make sure they don't
try and drive drunk) :)

rest of the staff here at JCXP

year. This is actually higher than the 257 million units they predicted earlier this year due to growth that is expected in the fourth quarter of
2009. This growth is set to then set continue into 2010 with a growth of 10.3% currently projected. 21 million netbooks are expected to have been
shipped this year and 30 million are predicted for next year.

that is before October this year. The English version of the OS will be available to system operators in August, and the Chinese version in October.
Microsoft will officially pre-market Windows 7 now by labeling Windows Vista computers with Windows 7 ready stickers.

13.02.2009A Second Shot: Windows Vista SP1
Its hard to say the last year has been anything but rough for Microsofts Windows division. Although we found Windows Vista favorable upon its launch
last year after watching it go through an usually drawn-out development process, such a sentiment hasnt been shared by Windows users as a whole.
Windows XP proved to be every bit the competition for Vista that Microsoft could ever fear it would be, at the time as when Vista was having its own
post-launch pains. It was a bad combination, making for a bad year for Microsofts efforts in pushing its first new desktop OS in 5 years. Microsoft
was looking to make a solid case for why Vista is a worthwhile successor to XP in a market notorious for a resistance to change, and they failed to do
this thanks to a failure in immature technology and an inability to get a consistent and convincing message out.
