stated, we expect Windows 7 to RTM in the 2nd half of July." LeBlanc also confirmed that Microsoft has an extensive step-by-step validation process
to ensure a quality release of Windows 7. According to LeBlanc "this process takes time.

When will you get Windows 7 RTM?
When will I get Windows 7 RTM?
Brandon LeBlanc: I recognize this is an important question to have answered. Many of you
have said you want to know exactly when you will be able to get your hands on RTM. Last Monday, I gave an update on RTM to close
out some myths. In that update, I also gave a broad timeline on when different groups of people or audiences would get the final RTM code.
While I have nothing new to add regarding RTM today, I do however have more precise information to give on when you will be able to
get RTM. Again, when you can get RTM depends on who you are.

Engineering Windows 7: Our Next Engineering Milestone
Steven Sinofsky: This post is about the path from RC to what we call RTM, release to manufacturing. RTM is not one point in time but a process as
from RTM we enable the PC manufacturers to begin their processes of building Windows 7 images for new PCs, readying downloads for existing machines,
and preparing the full supply chain to deliver Windows 7 to customers. Thus RTM is the final stage in our engineering of Windows 7, but the
engineering continues from RTM until you can purchase Windows 7 and Windows 7 PCs in stores at General Availability, or GA...

Windows Server 2008 R2 RTM and general Availability
You may have seen some of the recent news articles that have started to roll out around the RTM and General availability dates of Windows 7. As
Windows Server 2008 R2 is a joint development effort with Windows 7 we are aligned with the same RTM and General Availability (GA) dates.
With that Windows Server 2008 R2 RTM code is on track to be available to our partners sometime in the 2nd half of July. Windows Server
2008 R2 will also be broadly available about the same time as the Windows 7 GA date of Oct 22.

Redmond HQ and is being distributed across the net. The most obvious visual change is that a new default wallpaper has been set and there is no more
betta fish. The new wallpaper is named harmony. Windows 7 is still on track for a July RTM, and it's possible that it may even RTM by the end of
June.

Understanding Windows 7 AppLocker
Daniel Nerenberg: Window 7 RTM has been available for just a few weeks now, but already IT Pros everywhere are diving into great new features. One of
the more exciting features introduced in Windows 7 is AppLocker. Many of you know about Software Restriction Policies, they allow you to block the
execution of a program by file name or hash calculation. You probably also know how it was a race to block applications in our network with these
methods. Users could change the name of the file, or applications updates so frequently that you would constantly need to generate new hash
files...

IE8 RTM expected in March
TechARP has predicted that Microsoft will reach IE8's RTM milestone in March during the last 2 weeks. TechARP expects so because Microsoft plans
to announce the final details of the IE8 RTM schedule and available language versions by March 5, 2009. The malaysian website also expects Microsoft
to determine a time frame for the public release of IE8 via Windows Update by March 8. There was a time gap of 8 weeks between IE7's RC1 and its
public release. A similar 8-weeks time limit applied to IE8's RC1 in January suggests the final build's availability around March 23 according
to TechARP.

February 27, 2008: Microsoft plans a triple-play launch
Microsoft announced at its
partner conference on July 10
that it will launch Windows
Server 2008, Visual Studio
2008 and SQL Server 2008
together in a single launch on
February 27, 2008, in Los
Angeles.
Microsoft
officials have been saying for
a few months now that while
the company planned to release
to manufacturing Windows
Server 2008 (the product
formerly known as Longhorn
Server) before the end of
2007, it planned to launch
Windows Server 2008
officially some time in early
2008.
(According to
my sources, Microsoft is
planning to RTM Windows Server
2008 as well as Windows Vista
Service Pack (SP) 1 in
November. All Microsoft will
say publicly about its Windows
Server 2008 RTM schedule is
its on track to RTM before
the end of the year. It wont
say anything on its plans for
Vista SP1 RTM.)
Meanwhile, Beta 2 of
Visual Studio 2008 (code-named
Orcas) is expected some time
this summer with the RTM due
sometime in either late 2007
or early 2008. Microsoft also
recently released a private
Community Technology Preview
release of SQL Server 2008,
code-named Katmai. Earlier
this year, Microsoft said to
expect SQL Server 2008 to RTM
some time in 2008.

Earlier today the guys over at GeekSmack.net "confirmed" that Windows 7 was set to RTM(Release to market) on July 13, which also coincides with
Wzor's unconfirmed rumor last month. A few minutes ago sources close to the company, who wish to remain anonymous, have confirmed to Neowin that
Windows 7 is indeed set to RTM on July 13. After a year of furious beta testing and continuous leaks every other week, Microsoft is finally ready to
give Windows 7 the green light to hit the market. Currently the Windows 7 team is working on polishing off the RTM build so that no show-stopper bugs
are present in Windows 7.

Windows 7 build 7229 leaked
Another Windows 7 build has leaked. This time it's build 7229. Sources are indicating that unless there is a leak internally from Microsoft, this
would be last build leaked before the RTM. The build string is 7229.0.090604-1901 meaning that it was compiled a week ago. Earlier this week, build
7227 leaked to the public. Initial reports indicate that you can not use your RC keys with this build, so if you want to activate properly you
should not upgrade to this build. Windows 7 is still on track for a July RTM, and it's possible that it may even RTM by the end of June.
Microsoft has announced that it will be available in stores October 22nd.
