Windows Internet Explorer 7 DOWNLOAD
Few days ago at RSA, Bill Gates talked about Internet Explorer 7. As the guy responsible for IE, I wanted to say a couple of things about it.
First, some basics: we’re committing to deliver a new version of Internet Explorer for Windows XP customers. Betas of IE7 will be available this summer. This new release will build on the work we did in Windows XP SP2 and (among other things) go further to defend users from phishing as well as deceptive or malicious software.

24.2.2006Kodak Designs New CMOS Sensor
Eastman Kodak Company revealed today in a press release that it has created the world’s first 1.4 micron, 5 megapixel device, the KAC-05020
Image Sensor. Using significantly smaller pixels, this sensor enables a higher level of resolution in small optical formats which will be especially
useful in devices like cellphones: the sensor allows for full 720p video at 30fps in a quarter-inch camera. Unlike other small-pixel sensors which can
produce poor images, especially under low light conditions, the 1.4 micron pixel used in the KAC-05020 is reportedly able to provide image quality
that can equal or surpass what is available from current devices using larger, 1.75 micron pixel CMOS designs.

05.02.2008Intel Claims Significant Breakthrough in Silicon Photonics Development
Intel Labs researchers say they have achieved an important new step in developing silicon photonics, the ability to transmit data using light. A paper
published in Nature Photonics details Intel researchers' efforts to develop a silicon-based avalanche photodetector, or APD, a sensor that detects
and amplifies light signals. Intel says this type of avalanche photodetector offers greater bandwidth and amplification abilities than conventional
photodetectors. At the same time, Intel is looking for less expensive ways to build these types of photodetectors.

Bryant: During my time at PDC, I managed to speak with many people knowledgeable about various aspects of Windows 7. One of these people was Dan
Polivy, a lead on the team behind the new Windows 7 sensors framework which was mentioned a number of times during the old days when Windows 7
speculation was rampant. Dan and I carried an informative interview regarding a number of functions of the Windows 7 sensors framework, including
topics such as how easy it might be for a user to receive sensor data from sensors which are plugged into the framework as well as what one could do
with various forms of sensor data, such as locational input from WiFi triangulation and GPS signals.
If youre a developer,
watching this video would be a wise decision; were doing something special for those who watch, so stay tuned.

MS's "Lifeblogging" Camera Enters Mass Production
Remember Microsoft's camera to be slung around the necks of people with Alzheimer's to help them recall where they'd been? A version of this device will now be mass-produced by a UK firm,
Vicon, which obtained a license from Microsoft to manufacture the camera. It is worn around the neck and takes an image every thirty seconds, or in
response to its light sensor, accelerometer, or body-heat sensor indicating that something of interest may be happening. Until now only a few hundred
had been made for research, which showed they can genuinely help people with memory problems. The new version will be marketed to Alzheimer's
researchers this winter, and to consumers for 'lifelogging' beginning in 2010.

LED light bulb, 7.5 watts and it lasts 10 years
The ordinary light bulb in your house consumes around 60 watts depending on the application. C. Crane Company is hoping to change that with their
newly announced LED light bulb dubbed GeoBulb that uses only 7.5 watts of power while providing the same output as a traditional 60 watt light bulb.
Unfortunately, like most new technologies, the GeoBulb does not come cheap with a price tag of $120.00 it will take some time before the GeoBulb
or any other LED based light bulb will receive mass market adoption. Like any other new technology the price should drop dramatically as the bulb is
produced in larger quantities and as the manufacturing process gets refined.

Google violates iPhone API guidelines
Google has recently released a new version of it's Google Mobile application for the iPhone. This is the first time Google has made voice search
available on a mobile device (Google Android users were not the first). In order to initiate a search, the iPhone is placed by your ear, as if making
a call. The iPhone's proximity sensor detects this and the voice search initiates. While seemingly harmless, Apple has prohibited developers from
using the iPhone's proximity sensor, and therefore never released an API for it. Google has, in effect, violated the App Store guidelines.

Intel shows off light peak...on a hackintosh?
As recently reported by Neowin, Intel has developed a new technology called "Light Peak". With its impressive duplex 10Gps connection it can
transfer data at incredible rates. Today Intel has shown off Light Peak by playing a 1080P video over the connection while also transferring files
using OS X. While incredibly impressive, what was even more interesting was that Intel appeared to be running OS X on a hackintosh computer. The
video, which can be seen in full here, clearly shows OS X on the monitor but no distinguishable Mac can be seen.

Microsoft Releases new Mouse using a BlueTrack Sensor
The Microsoft Explorer Mouse and Explorer Mini Mouse were announced today and feature a unique technology that is making its debut in these devices.
It’s called BlueTrack, and this new sensor can work on just about any surface.
In fact, BlueTrack is much more accurate on shiny
surfaces than any other tech out there right now. If you don’t like using a mouse pad and find your desk has too much of a sheen for your mouse
to accurately register, this technology should help you tremendously.
Microsoft developed this new tech, which sets it apart from the
standard Agilent Technologies licensed laser sensors that fit in most other computer mice. This one might stick with Microsoft, and if they decide to
license it, well, that would make them a bundle, especially if these two launches work out well. The Explorer Mouse will sell for $99.99 and the
Explorer Mini Mouse will sell for $79.99 once they are released this November.

Fibre optic networks to break light speed?
German scientists claim to
have broken the light speed
barrier, which could blow away
the known limitations of
modern networking but the
technology is unlikely to make
it into a product -- if at all
-- until most administrators
working today have retired.
Exceeding
the speed of light,
approximately 300,000
kilometres per second, is
supposed to be completely
impossible. According to
Einstein's special theory of
relativity, it would take an
infinite amount of energy to
accelerate an object through
the light barrier.
But two German
physicists claim to have
forced light to overcome its
own speed limit using the
strange phenomenon known as
quantum tunnelling.
Gunter Nimtz, one
of the physicists from the
University of Koblenz, told
New Scientist magazine: "For
the time being, this is the
only violation of special
relativity that I know
of".

Latest biometric technology scans veins
CNET is reporting that Sony has developed a new biometric scanning technology, called 'Mofiria', that scans the veins in your finger in order
to provide access to your laptop or PC. The scanner uses a CMOS sensor to capture scattered light within the finger veins, and compresses the date to
allow it to be stored on laptops, or even cellphones. There are many benefits to this new method, claims Sony. Firstly, this technology claims a
high accuracy rate, with less than 0.1% false identification. Secondly, it takes a lot less time to scan the finger; it takes 0.015 seconds to scan on
a computer CPU, and 0.25 seconds on a mobile phone CPU.

06.02.2007Harvard Physicist Plays Magician With the Speed of Light
Lene Vestergaard Hau can stop a pulse of light in midflight, start it up again at 0.13 miles per hour, and then make it appear in a completely
different location. "It's like a little magic trick," says Hau, a Harvard physicist. "Of course, in all magic tricks there's a secret." And her
secret is a 0.1-mm lump of atoms called a Bose-Einstein condensate, cooled nearly to absolute zero (-459.67 degrees Fahrenheit) in a steel container
with tiny windows. Normally well, in a vacuum light goes 186,282 miles per second. But things are different inside a BEC, a strange place where
millions of atoms move barely in quantum lockstep.

Today, Dell announced their new line of LED backlit monitors, the G2210 (22") and the G2410 (24"). While these monitors do use LED backlighting
unlike the UltraSharp line, this new line uses lower quality display panels.
Both new displays feature a 1,000:1 contrast ratio, an
ambient light sensor, 5ms response time, and brightness of 250 cd/m2. Additionally, DVI-D and VGA connectors are included with each. HDCP will only be
available the 24" model. The two monitors have rather average resolutions, 1680x1050 on the 22" and 1980x1080 on the 24".

lighter than comparable monitors.
The two will be shipping in late February for $279 and $359.
