The VideoCore III processor is part of Broadcom's
effort to power a new generation of mobile phones that deliver a high-quality multimedia experience, the company said in a press release.
The company's BCM2727 processor will be the first to incorporate Broadcom's VideoCore III multimedia architecture. The processor supports
high-definition camcorder functionality, which allows users to encode and decode high-definition video in 720p mode, with 720 lines progressively
scanned. It supports 12-megapixel digital camera processing, with an on-chip image signal processor for color correction, image stabilization and
red-eye reduction. On-board 2D and 3D graphics accelerators are designed to provide a rich multimedia experience and support more than 50 image and

In Windows XP, if we need to run a High Definition Audio (HDA) device, we would have to install the Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition
Audio class driver. This is either the
KB835221 (for SP1) or the newer
KB888111 (for SP2 or SP1).
However, this does NOT
work for the latest Windows XP Service Pack 3 Release Candidate Release. If you've already tried installing the
Windows XP
Service Pack 3 Release Candidate v3264 with a High Definition Audio (HDA) device in your computer, I'll bet you have encountered problems with
the audio drivers as I did.

The BBC's plans for using digital rights management to prevent unauthorised usage of material broadcast on the coming Freeview HD service have
been blocked by industry regulator Ofcom. The BBC had planned to let people freely record standard-definition content, with added restrictions for
high-definition broadcasts. The introduction of DRM to the Freeview HD service, which is expected to launch this December, was designed as an
anti-piracy measure, with the British broadcaster worried about unauthorised redistribution of high-definition content. Despite BBC claims of it being
"invisible" to the end user, it still raised questions, according to TechRadar.
