Your uploaded files will be deleted only after it become unused for 30 days. So, if many of your friends download it, over and over again, the files will always be there. The size is quite big, up to 250MB. Not as big as YouSendIt which allow up to 1GB file size, but it's more than enough to share your music files, movies, etc.

"Its interesting that people seem to think that Vista under performs in every area of the system which is quite an incorrect perception. In this demo
I show how Vista outperforms Windows XP and I show the under the covers process traces of just how it achieves it."
"Demo environment
consists of two images. One Vista SP1 and the other Windows XP SP2 both on the same HDD IO and communicating across my home wireless network to a

slow down." Watch and see at Edge TechNet.

neowin.net - 27.05.2008Microsoft unveils Freeze Dry
for Windows Vista
Windows Vista will
include a new technology known
as Freeze Dry designed to
maintain application states
and unsaved documents even
when patches are automatically
applied and PCs are
rebooted.
Speaking at the Australian
Tech Ed conference on the Gold
Coast in Queensland this week,
senior product manager Amy
Stephan offered a preview of
the Freeze Dry
technology.
Many IT
managers plan to automatically
install patches and updates on
machines during periods when
they are inactive, such as
overnight or on weekends.
However, as some patches
require machines to reboot,
users who leave documents open
and unsaved run the risk of
losing that data if the
machine is automatically
updated. ..
winbeta.org - 06.09.2005Actual Performance, Perceived Performance
Jeff Atwood: If you've used Windows Vista, you've probably noticed that Vista's file copy performance is noticeably worse than Windows XP. I know
it's one of the first things I noticed. Here's the irony-- Vista's file copy is based on an improved algorithm and actually performs better in most cases than XP. So how come it seems so darn slow?
winbeta.org - 03.03.2008Microsoft denies hiring freeze
Microsoft Corp. today denied that it has instituted a hiring freeze, despite an internal memo described by an employee indicating the move.
"It is not true that we have instituted a hiring freeze," said Lou Gellos, a Microsoft spokesman. "What is true is that we are
evaluating hiring as we always do and we might make projections that are different than perhaps we had at the beginning of the year."
winbeta.org - 04.10.2008Inside Vista SP1 File Copy Improvements
Mark Russinovich: Windows Vista SP1 includes a number of enhancements over the original Vista release in the areas of application compatibility,
device support, power management, security and reliability. You can see a detailed list of the changes in the Notable Changes in Windows Vista Service
Pack 1 whitepaper that you can download here. One
of the improvements highlighted in the document is the increased performance of file copying for multiple scenarios, including local copies on the
same disk, copying files from remote non-Windows Vista systems, and copying files between SP1 systems. How were these gains achieved? The answer is a
complex one and lies in the changes to the file copy engine between Windows XP and Vista and further changes in SP1. Everyone copies files, so I
thought it would be worth taking a break from the śCase of¦ť posts and dive deep into the evolution of the copy engine to show how SP1 improves its
performance.
Copying a file seems like a relatively straightforward operation: open the source file, create the destination, and
then read from the source and write to the destination. In reality, however, the performance of copying files is measured along the dimensions of
accurate progress indication, CPU usage, memory usage, and throughput. In general, optimizing one area causes degradation in others. Further, there is
semantic information not available to copy engines that could help them make better tradeoffs. For example, if they knew that you werent planning on
accessing the target of the copy operation they could avoid caching the files data in memory, but if it knew that the file was going to be immediately
consumed by another application, or in the case of a file server, client systems sharing the files, it would aggressively cache the data on the
destination system.
winbeta.org - 05.02.2008Black screen of darkness to haunt Vista pirates
Microsoft Windows' infamous "Blue Screen of Death" has become synonymous with an operating system crash or freeze, but that's nothing compared
with what users of pirated copies of Vista worldwide can expect from now - a black screen of darkness.
In an e-mail to a large
Windows Vista OEM distributor titled "Pirated Vista - A darkness descends!", a local Microsoft representative made it quite clear what Vista pirates
can expect to happen to their unlicenced installations.
A copy of this e-mail was obtained by Computerworld:

winbeta.org - 11.09.2007Vista SP1 vs. XP SP2 - Part Deux
Adrian Kingsley-Hughes: Following the benchmarks I carried out last week, I
decided that the PC Doc HQ lab rats needed to pull a few all-nighters and carry out some more benchmarking tests on Vista SP1 and XP SP2. Is it
possible to determine conclusively which is the faster, more responsive OS?
One of the main criticisms of my initial benchmark
tests was that I overlooked the fact that, under the hood, Windows Vista SP1 works differently to XP SP2 in the file copy department. The difference
is down to caching and how Vista carried out uncached I/O while XP caches the files. On top of that is the further complication that the file
transfer progress bars are coded to work differently. Vistas file copy dialog box goes away when the cache is committed, while under XP the copy
dialog goes away while the committal is still pending. In other words XP is coded to appear fast...

Sparks More Facts
The Inquirer's recent
examination of the
'undelete' technology in
Windows Vista has become more
important since Apple formally
announced 'Time Machine' in
Leopard, the next iteration of
OSX.
Unfortunately Apple's Time
Machine requires a separate
disk, dedicated to the
backing-up of data on your
primary drive. Useful in the
case of a hard-disk failure,
but not exactly the cheapest
option. It also seems to have
an esoteric GUI, which may or
may not work well in real-word
usage.
Windows
Vista's alternative backup
application is very similar,
albeit without the
over-the-top interface, and
also comes with a Shadow Copy
feature that's integrated
into the normal file/folder
menus, and has some
interesting attributes of its
own.

jcxp.net - 17.08.2006Microsoft wants to freeze the Vista incapable lawsuit
EVER SLIPPERY, Microsoft asked that the "Vista Capable" lawsuit against it be stayed while it appeals the judge's approval of class action
standing for the case.
The lawsuit, filed almost a year ago, claims that Microsoft misled punters in late 2006 by letting PC makers stick
"Vista Capable" labels on lower power machines sold with Windows XP that were later found capable of running only the Home Basic version of Windows
Vista rather than the full version that includes most of Vista's new features including the Aero eye-candy graphical interface.
It
claims that PC buyers paid more for those machines than they would have parted with had they known that they wouldn't be able to support Windows
Vista when that was released a few months later in early 2007.

neowin.net - 16.10.2009Windows 7 testers to get free copy from tomorrow
Last week Microsoft had a change of heart and decided to go back on what they had previously said by offering testers on the Windows 7 technical beta
program a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate, in reward for their efforts in testing the new operating system. Previously Microsoft revealed that
testers would not be receiving Windows 7 for free and argued that the discounted pre-order offer, which was available to all consumers, was partly
done for the benefit of beta testers. This was met with a bad response from bloggers and testers alike.

neowin.net - 05.08.2009Vista file copying showdown: RTM vs SP1
Long Zheng: Copying files is the Achilles heel of Windows Vista, ścalculating time remaining¦ť the blue screen of death equivalent. If anyone tells
you Windows Vista isnt slow at copying files, then they obviously havent downloaded any DVDrips and tried to move it onto another computer. It was
anticipated Windows Vista Service Pack 1 would fix this problem amongst other things.
As announced this week, the first beta
build of SP1 (6001.16659) has been released on Microsoft Connect. The initial reaction from most tester has been largely positive noting improvements
in file operations such as moving, copying and deleting files. However I havent seen anyone post any benchmarks or evidence to prove it is indeed
faster.

In a shock turn around, Microsoft announced today that Windows 7 technical testers will be receiving a free copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. In recent
weeks Microsoft has faced angry reactions from bloggers and beta testers when they originally announced the testers "thanks" was the discounted
pre-order offer. Blogger Paul Thurrot claimed: "the painful thing here, for beta testers, is that they've been screwed" which demonstrated the
reaction to the previous announcements.
