Windows 7 Beta 1 6.1.7000.0 - 7000.0.081212-1400 Screenshot and ISO Details
Looks like the rumor that Windows 7 Beta 1 will have build version of 7000 has some truth in it, or at least the build version 6.1.7000.0 of Windows 7 does exist. Microsoft has silently made available download of Windows 7 Beta 1 DVD ISO image to selected people, independent of the Windows 7 beta participation invite.

Last weekend Windows 7 Build 7022 got leaked to the internet. Currently the only official build available to testers and the general public is build

11.02.2009Windows 7 build 7022 leaks
Microsoft are currently working hard towards the Release Candidate of Windows 7. Currently the only official build available to testers and the
general public is build 7000 but we have learned that 7022 has leaked to the internet today. According to a Russian torrent site it was leaked by
"friendly" Microsoft Ukraine individuals. It's not likely that the build contains any of the UAC changes Microsoft has recently promised. The
build is Build 7022.winmain.090115-1850 which indicates it was built nearly a month ago. Some Microsoft employees have twittered recently that they
were "installing build 7034" so the company is clearly pushing ahead with the builds ready for the upcoming Release Candidate.

08.02.2009Windows 7 Beta will be available for public on Friday
Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO, is set to announce at CES that Windows 7 will see its public debut on Friday 9th January. Microsoft is currently
readying the beta for MSDN and TechNet subscribers and this will be available during Thursday 8th January (or sooner depending on replication).
It's fully confirmed that the beta 1 build will be 7000 that leaked shortly after Christmas. Our members have been discussing the various leaks
and Windows 7 availability all day in one of our more popular forum threads. According to sources close to Microsoft, the company is significantly
further on from build 7000 and it's understood that the development has branched from 7003 onwards ready for the RC/RTM stages.

08.01.2009Windows 7 build 7077 leaks
According to several reports from Neowin members, Windows 7 build 7077 has leaked to various torrent sites. Named as an RC escrow build it's
likely that 7077.0.090404-1255 is the RC that will be modified to 7100 and distributed widely in May. Microsoft confirmed the 7100 path yesterday on
its Engineering Windows 7 blog by advising users to modify the MinClient build number from 7100 to 7000 in order to enable beta to RC upgrades. It is
now expected that Microsoft will name 7100 as the RC build and builds 7105 onwards will be the ongoing development branched towards RTM.

Warning: Windows 7 beta could corrupt your MP3s
Several reports from users using the latest leaked build of Windows 7 indicate a potential data corruption issue using Microsoft's Windows Media
Player 12. Windows 7 beta 1 build 7000 leaked over the Christmas holidays and a Microsoft spokesperson has confirmed that there is a bug which
affects the leaked build. Approximately 2-3 seconds will get shaved off the beginning of MP3s if you have set your Windows Media Player 12 settings to
retrieve information from the internet and update files. The default configuration for WMP12 sets this if you use the "express" option during setup.
"The problem only happens when you edit metadata on a certain class of MP3 file (a file with a header larger than 16KB).

Lessons learned from installing Windows 7, over 16 times
When the first Windows 7 beta (build 6801) was announced at PDC in late 2008, everyone was excited, myself included. Within a few days after release I
was happily running my very first version of Windows 7. Right around new years day, Microsoft released the first public beta (build 7000) of the next
gen OS. Since Microsoft was kind enough to share it with me, I decided to share it with everyone I know. Starting with my immediate family computers
and expanding to my network of friends and coworkers. I went on a upgrading frenzy, installing Windows 7 on just about any PC I could get my hands on.

Windows 7 "Pre-Beta" Build 7004
Doug Holland: Scott Wylie, Microsoft's New Zealand Director of Development and Platform Strategy,
wrote today on his blog about his experience installing a pre-beta build of Windows 7 on his home laptop.
It is interesting to note that the pre-beta build of Windows 7 installed on his home laptop seems to be build 7004,
which if the term "pre-beta" is accurate would indicate that Windows 7 beta one will be some build number higher than 7004. On the blogosphere the general consensus has been that beta one
would be build 7000.0.081212-1400 which the following screen shot from Scott's laptop could indicate is inaccurate.

Windows Vista Build 5219 to be
released at MS PDC
Microsoft will tomorrow
release a refreshed build of
Windows Vista at it's
Professional Developer's
Conference.
Thi
s build is 5219.
No. It is not
Beta 2. No. It is not Beta 1.
Yes. It is newer than Beta
1. It is a pre-beta-2 build.
Screenshots leaked
onto the internet earlier
today have led people to
erroneously claim that the
5219 build compiled on 050824
(24 August, 2005) is the build
that will be released at
PDC.
This is
untrue. Contrary to popular
belief, every new build
generated is not necessarily
automatically incremented by
1. If this were true, the
correct 5219 build (more on
that below) would have been
one compiled before 050824.
Thus the 5219 050824 build
would not exist. We have
confirmed that the 0824 build
is a legitimate build which
was issued to OEM partners for
testing. Did you leak these
screenshots IBM as you did the
screenshots of the 5203 build?
Build 5219
compiled on 050830 (30 August
2005) is the one that will be
released at PDC.
How is that
possible? Simple. Microsoft
compiled mutiple builds of
5219 over the period of at
least a week before finally
declaring 050830 as the final
build for
5219.
Among the
changes from 0824 to 0830 is
the fact that the sidebar
visible in 0824 has been
removed in the 0830 build.
Revamped

New Windows 7 beta released to select testers
Today, Microsoft released its first wave of invitations for the Windows 7 beta test. The invitations were only sent to a small, select group of
'technical beta' testers. In the email sent to invited testers, Microsoft states that the beta is not available for download right away. A
reliable Russian website (demo:demo) has claimed that the beta Microsoft will upload is build 7000.0.081212-1400, built December 12th. They also claim
the build will be made available to testers within the next 48 hours. In the email, Microsoft also mentioned their website where it has placed a
wealth of information about Windows 7 and mentions the beta. This will likely be updated in the future.
