anything special but it is
more extensive than typical
beta pages. For now, it is
structured into 7 areas which
answer simple FAQs. It is
evident that the program is
aimed at beta testers who are
particularly active and
genuinely want to help
Microsoft develop and improve
Windows Live products. What
Microsoft has planned for
these testers, however, is
currently unclear, but the
software giant made sure to
throw out many Thank Yous

19.12.2008Deployment 4 Beta 3 Released
Deployment 4 is the code name for the next version of Business Desktop Deployment (BDD) 2007 and unifies the tools and processes required for desktop
and server deployment into a common deployment console and collection of guidance. For the thousands of IT professionals already trained on BDD 2007,
Deployment 4 requires minimal extra training to perform large-scale Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2003 deployments, while offering a further
enhanced desktop deployment experience. Deployment 4 adds integration with recently released Microsoft deployment technologies to create a single path
for image creation and deployment, including:
- System Center Configuration Manager 2007 Operating System Deployment
- Windows
Automated Installation Kit
- Windows Deployment Services with new multicast technology
- Application Compatibility Toolkit 5.0
- User State Migration Tool 3.0.1
- Windows Server 2008 Server Manager for automated server role definition (coming soon)
Deployment 4 Beta 3 combines the guidance and toolset from previous releases of Business Desktop Deployment and Beta releases of Windows Server
Deployment. This release continues to support Zero Touch Installation (ZTI) of desktop operating systems using Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003
with the Operating System Deployment Feature Pack and adds new deployment and task sequencing capabilities for desktops and servers using System
Center Configuration Manager 2007. Deployment 4 also continues to provide Lite Touch Installation (LTI) support without infrastructure requirements
and adds capabilities for Windows Server 2003 and pre-release versions of Windows Server 2008.
Where to Find Deployment 4 Beta

17.09.2007'Albany': New Microsoft 'home office' in the works?
Microsoft has begun inviting selected testers to be part of a beta of a new, consumer-focused Office-family product, codenamed "Albany."
The beta invitation for Albany is cryptic, according to testers who received the invite and asked not to be named. Albany will be aimed at
home PC users, not business customers, and will include both a software and a services component. The individuals whove been invited into the private,
limited beta so far are those whove previously beta-tested Office releases.

21.03.200810,000 Participants Join Home Server Beta
At the beginning of this week,
Joel Sider, Sr. Product
Manager, Windows Server PR,
said that the Windows Home
Server team was sending out
invitations to the limited
beta 2 program by the
truckload. Well, he wasn't
far from the truth.
As of this week, the
number of requests for
participations on the second
beta to the Windows Home
Server has jumped in excess of
25,000. This amount of
response is immense when you
take into consideration the
fact that, at the beginning of
January 2007, this product was
a Microsoft inhouse secret.
?Last Friday, we
invited the first 10,000
people who filled out the
survey to join the Windows
Home Server Beta 2 program.
Here are a few stats: 9,835
people entered a valid e-mail
address, 6,693 have activated
their Connect Invitation ID,
5,686 have acquired a product
key from the Connect site for
installing the software,?
revealed Todd Headrick, the
product planner for the
Microsoft Windows Home Server.
And this is not
enough. The Windows Home
Server team will continue to
welcome participants to the
beta 2 program. At this point
in time, none of the members
of the WHS team has indicated
what the limit will be. ?We
hope to be sending out another
bunch of invitations soon ...
thanks for your patience,?
Headrick added.

You may remember a while back, Microsoft announces a new web-syncing service named My Phone, aimed at, you guessed it, cellphones. We at Neowin have

no longer the case; according to Slashphone, the service is now in public beta status, meaning that everybody can now go and try it out for
themselves. My Phone provides automatic syncing and backup, which means that users can have appointments, contacts, and even text messages be
constantly up to date; it also means that users can instantly restore all information upon losing their phone, or something similar.

Windows Live Messenger 9.0 Beta Begins Today
Microsoft is expected to officially open the beta program for Windows Live Messenger 9.0 this afternoon (or early evening). Windows Live Messenger 9.0
is the next generation of Windows Live Messenger; this release is a "major" release and as such there will be no further interim builds for
Windows Live Messenger. The beta program for Windows Live Messenger is by invitation only and those invitations were sent out last week on Tuesday -
Wednesday (the 21st, and 22nd respectively). Currently the beta program has been limited to 5,000 testers and will later be expanded to a larger
group.
As reported by several sites, the program was not put on hold at all due to the feature list being leaked over the holiday weekend,
additionally, sites also reported that some testers had already gotten the build and that was just a rumor. Coincidentally, almost all of the sites
that had posted the feature list for Windows Live Messenger had politely removed the list of features. Again, the beta program is expected to
officially start this afternoon or early evening. We will be updating this post when the build is released on Microsoft’s Connect web site. We
will share more information as it comes in and we will share as much information as we are allowed to by our non-disclosure agreement (NDA).
