VMware has updated its products to fix the security bugs, disclosed
Wednesday, but users who have not updated their software could face serious security risks thanks to a trio of flaws in the DHCP server that ships
with VMware.
The DHCP software is used to assign IP addresses to the different virtual machines running within VMware, but IBM
researchers discovered that it can be exploited to gain control of the computer. That could be very bad news for someone running a lot of applications
on the same VMware box, said Tom Cross, a researcher with IBM's Internet Security Systems group. "By exploiting this vulnerability, you get complete
control of any of the machines that are running on that virtual environment," he said. ..

readying site updates and download servers for the imminent release of the Windows 7 beta. Yesterday, German site Winfuture claimed that the beta
would be released today and this could confirm the sites claims. The download link is currently inaccessible. It's entirely possible that once

Today, Microsoft released its first wave of invitations for the Windows 7 beta test. The invitations were only sent to a small, select group of
'technical beta' testers. In the email sent to invited testers, Microsoft states that the beta is not available for download right away. A
reliable Russian website (demo:demo) has claimed that the beta Microsoft will upload is build 7000.0.081212-1400, built December 12th. They also claim
the build will be made available to testers within the next 48 hours. In the email, Microsoft also mentioned their website where it has placed a
wealth of information about Windows 7 and mentions the beta. This will likely be updated in the future.
