Full Review: Windows Vista December CTP
Love-him-hate-him Paul Thurrot has released a four part in-depth review of Vista's December CTP. "I think people are going to be surprised by how good the Windows Vista December 2005 Community Technical Preview (CTP, or build 5270) really is.
After years of painful delays and an uncertain couple of months since the last CTP, Microsoft shipped a near-feature-complete Vista build to testers this week, and the prognosis is extremely positive. From what I can see, Vista has turned the corner. The December CTP is an exciting release, stable and full of new features. In this review, I'll examine those new features, and the features that have changed since the previous CTP, build 5231"

My Office 12 Review
A few weeks ago the Microsoft Office team worked hard to get Beta 1 out of the door to beta testers via Microsoft Beta. This build was quite successful in all products of Office.
Unfortunately, Microsoft Office ?12? does not come with a new product but the same products that have many changes will keep testers busy until Beta 2! During the Beta phase of Office 2003, Code-named ?Office 11? and referred to as NGO (Next Generation of Office), brought new applications to the table. These applications were InfoPath and OneNote.

Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 Review
A Little History
Virtualization software is nothing new, and dates back quite some time. One of the most popular examples for the end user was Connectix Virtual PC for the Mac. Since there are a pretty huge number of programs that are only available on Windows, this created a strong market niche to let Mac users run Windows programs, even if at reduced speed.
Virtual PC for the Mac, rather than emulating Windows, emulated the x86 architecture and the requisite peripheral devices, such as a video and sound card. This meant that emulation could work quite flawlessly, but also that any user would need to purchase a copy of Windows as well and then install it onto the Virtual PC. Virtual PC was a success and Connectix later created a Windows version which let you run most x86 OSes ? something quite useful for developers, enthusiasts, and IT professionals.

Percy Cabello: Firefox 3 Beta 4 is about to be released (later today or tomorrow), as the twelfth milestone, in what already is the longest
development time for a Firefox version since the initial Firefox 1.0 back in 2004.
Fortunately, Mozilla has not been shy to set
as many milestones as needed, and given the many new features and tweaks Firefox 3 introduces, it seems anything but sensible, specially considering
its not only about Firefox but Gecko, the web page rendering engine and the Mozilla platform as a whole which affects the many products based on
it.

05.06.2009Review: Firefox 3 Beta Answers Some Questions, Raises Others
CRN Test Center downloaded Firefox 3 Beta 1 from Mozilla for a peek to get an idea of what users can expect when Firefox 3 is officially launched.
Since this is a beta, the browser is intended for testing purposes only. While no one expects the browser to be production-ready now, if history is
any guide, the likelihood of users going ahead and upgrading increases the longer the product stays in beta.
The beta was downloaded onto
a Compaq desktop with AMD Athlon processor, a five-year old Dell Inspiron notebook, and a three-year-old IBM Thinkpad T42 laptop. All three machines
run Windows XP. Installation was painless and took less than five minutes on all machines. Bookmarks and profiles from both Firefox and from Internet
Explorer migrated seamlessly. However, the browser didn't work well on all hardware configurations.

04.12.20081up Pulls Neverwinter Nights 2 Review
Seems the overly negative
review of Neverwinter Nights 2
over at 1up didn't sit to
well with the members. But
that begs the question, why
pull a review because it was
negative? 1up says it was
because the review didn't
live up to their "editorial
standards" which can be taken
many ways. Was it because
everyone thought the review
was way, way to negative? Or
was it because 1up got hate
mail due to the negative
review? Who knows. All I know
is that 1up actually pulled a
review - which I don't think
I've ever seen happen before
with an online review from a
major gaming site. The
original review gave
Neverwinter Nights 2 a 5/10
score, and it was pretty
obvious the reviewer didn't
care for the D&D rules or
world. Plus, as has been said,
it was poorly written. Or was
it?
Did 1up do
the right thing by pulling the
review? Should the review have
not been pulled? What does
that say about a negative
reaction to a review in
general, if it is so negative
it might get pulled by the
company? What do you guys
think?
You can
read the original
review

the Bioware forums.
