screenshot. The screenshot is just the Windows 7 Desktop but the build string is clearly visible - 7068.winmain.090321-1322 - which means that this
build 7068 was compiled on March 21, 2009. It was also rumored earlier that Windows 7 build 7068 is released on Microsoft Connect to a select group
of testers. WinFuture reports that this build might have been released to the Windows 7 TAP Customers, who get involved closely with Microsoft in beta
testing their products.

someone working at Microsoft and the story goes like this: "I just came back from Microsoft, since my Dad works there. He works for in the SQL
server division and here are some screenshots I took about the new build 7070.I don't know if there is anything new to this build, but they
installed it yesterday, so it probably will be leaked soon. They said it was a major update; maybe not to the user interface but more to the Kernel.

04.10.2006Windows 7 RTM contains a rather nasty chkdsk bug
Windows 7 RTM, which will be distributed to MSDN/TechNet and technical beta testers tomorrow, contains a nasty memory leak when the chkdsk command is
initiated. The bug occurs when the CHKDSK /R command is initiated on a non-system volume. Memory usage of the chkdsk.exe process soars until the
system is using over 90% physical memory. In some cases this will cause the system to become unresponsive and unstable. Some are calling the bug a
"show stopper", whilst others (Randall Kennedy) claim it could derail the Windows 7 launch. It's worth noting that Kennedy claimed in November
2008 that Microsoft had delayed the Windows 7 beta to early 2009, even though company officials always stated this was the case.

05.08.2009Windows 7 Release Candidate goes public... Oops
Tired of waiting for Microsoft to release the first (and likely only) release candidate of Windows 7? No worries, you can go and snatch it up now...
via torrents. Earlier today, build 7100 of Windows 7, the official Release Candidate build, leaked to the public.
While no new visual
elements stand out from previous builds, UI changes should no longer be expected this late in the game. Any changes from this point on will be, for
the most part, behind the scenes. One notable change however is Microsoft's decision to revert back to the previous active tile design for the
taskbar, as found in build 7068, as it no longer features the white hazy glow behind the icon.
The official release date of Windows 7 RC
is expected to be May 5th for the public, and slightly earlier for TechNet and MSDN subscribers.

I have a confession to make, I used Windows Millennium Edition and I liked it. That doesn’t stop me making fun of it however.
At a
time where there was still a separation between consumer and enterprise operating systems, Windows Me was at the top of its class.
What a
lot of people forget or don’t even recognize to begin with is that Windows Me is actually a rather innovative and forward-looking operating
system. Instead, almost everyone focuses on its reliability problems which can be largely attributed to the flaky and inherently unstable Win9x
kernel.

18.03.2008Improved Windows interoperability in Ubuntu
A proposal has been created by Scott Richie, an Ubuntu MOTU, that Wine be included in the Main repository of Ubuntu. This does not mean the Wine would
be installed by default but instead that, on clicking an executable file, the user would be prompted if they want to install Wine. An automatic
install would follow, similar to what is already done for codecs in Ubuntu. The proposal comes after realising that only 37% of Ubuntu users had
installed Wine with only a third of these using it according to PopCon. Having previously been too unstable in its beta versions, Scott Richie
believes Wine is now mature enough for inclusion in the distribution.

Some people have been turning to a utility called vLite, which out components of the operating system deemed unessential.
"Microsoft does
not recommend using any tool to strip out applications from Windows Vista prior to installing it on your system, as it may affect your ability to
download future Windows updates and service packs, and may cause your system to become unstable", the company said in an e-mail to CNET News.com.

the same properties as carbon nanotubes, the ubiquitous components of nanoengineering. And for some electronic applications, they should even be

Boron nanotubes will have a more complicated shape than the simple linked hexagons that work for carbon, as
the chemistry of boron makes that chicken-wire pattern unstable. The first boron nanotubes to be created, in 2004, are thought to be formed from a

John Nack, the principal product manager for Photoshop at Adobe, last week announced on his public blog that CS3 and earlier have not been tested on
Snow Leopard. There have been reports of CS3 being unstable on Snow Leopard surfacing around the web - including CS3 crashing when fonts are
changed. Photoshop CS2, however, is listed as not compatible with Snow Leopard. "While older Adobe and Macromedia applications may install and run
on Mac OS X Snow Leopard (v10.6), they were designed, tested and released to the public several years before this new operating system became
available," the document states. "You may therefore experience a variety of installation, stability, and reliability issues for which there is no
resolution.

WB: But we do. Just remember that SP1 cannot be installed on a vLited Vista install so a preintegrated or "Reverse Integrated" SP1 ISO is required. As for installing

DNS patch causes BIND blunder
The group responsible for maintaining the internet's most popular domain name software BIND has admitted it caused problems by fast-tracking a
security patch designed to fix the widescale DNS flaw discovered by researcher Dan
Kaminsky this month.
Paul Vixie, president of non-profit Internet Systems Consortium (ISC), the organisation which maintains
BIND (the Berkeley Internet Name Domain), admitted yesterday the patch for BIND version 9 was unstable and recommended users to install beta (early

Timing and Vista Woes for the Mobile Warrior
James Kendrick has had enough. A master of
mobile technology, hes been working with Vista on more mobile devices than I can keep track of. Hes put up a pretty scathing post on jkOnTheRun
stating that that in his opinion Vista will never run well on mobile devices and it is one giant step backwards. His long post is summed up nicely in
this excerpt: The whole Vista mobile experience is very unstable and that is unsettling to anyone who needs to get their work done, and get it
done now. I don't care how pretty the OS is or how much new sophisticated stuff is going on under the hood if it makes my performance unpredictable.
That is such a big step backwards that you have to wonder how it can be fixed in the short term. I fear it can't. Say what you will about Windows
XP the one thing it is on mobile devices is stable. Rock-solid stable. Can anyone say that about Vista on mobile PCs? I have a very bad feeling
about the immediate future of mobile computing on the Vista platform. And that hits me where I live.
He mentions many of the issues that have
been well chronicled here on the pages and forums of GBM and elsewhere, like docking and undocking (Robs post about this yesterday stirred up a small
firestorm) and echoes my experiences with UMPCs and Vista quite well. Anything with one of the newer śmobileť processors and limited to 1GB of memory
is nothing short of frustrating running Vista. It is just an unsatisfactory experience on a UMPC, period. Im actually thinking of selling the two
UMPCs I own and waiting (probably in vain) for something better down the line.

Next-Gen LEDs Show Bright Future
Scientists in India are reporting an advance toward discovering a Holy Grail of the illumination industry - a white LED, a light-emitting diode that
produces pure white light suitable for interior lighting of homes, offices and other buildings. Their study is in the Sept. 9 issue of ACS' The
Journal of Physical Chemistry C. In the report, D. D. Sarma and Angshuman Nag point out that practical versions of these so-called white LEDs would be
brighter, longer-lasting and more energy efficient than conventional light sources such as incandescent and fluorescent lamps and could replace them
in the future.
However, scientists have faced several difficulties in developing pure white LEDs with all the requirements and desirable
properties. Existing versions produce tinted, unstable shades of white light that mar their performance. The researchers report the first success in
developing a new LED based on a new phosphor from semiconductor nanocrystals of cadmium sulfide mixed with manganese. It produces a stable shade of
white light that remains constant over time and appears superior in overall performance in comparison to previous generations of white LEDs. The
scientists now are working to boost its efficiency so that the white LED can be used in everyday applications.

Revision3 cuts shows from lineup
Fans of the popular Internet-based television network Revision3 may notice a bit of a change in the programming line-up when they tune in next week.
Jim Louderback announced today on the company blog that
five shows, including Pixel Perfect, PopSiren, Internet Superstar, Epic Fu, and Wine Library, will either be ending their run immediately on the
network, or, in Epic Fu's case, be phased out by December. The move come as unstable economic conditions pervade throughout the globe, causing
belt-tightening in all aspects of life.
Of particular note is Pixel Perfect, which, as Louderback says, " delivered essentially a
graduate level course in graphic design and technique " over its 100+ episode run; the program was finally cut simply because executives believe
it had run its course, and had little new ground to tread. On the other hand, PopSiren and Internet Superstar were given the axe after consistently
low ratings; although they had "great promise", they never quite found their audience. Finally, Wine Library and Epic Fu will be leaving Revision3
due to the network's termination of its distribution agreements with the shows. However, fans should take heart as these shows will still be
produced from their respective sites.
Revision3 was an interesting paradigm shift when it first debuted, offering a targeted lineup of
shows for Internet distribution, on the hopes that these shows would attract a dedicated viewer following. Although this isn't the first time that
the network has cut shows, new content is on its way, as seven new shows were launched on Revision3Beta this month.
All old episodes from
these five shows will still be available from Revision3's show archives.
