Windows Home Server: Power Pack 2 now available for download
The Windows Home Server Team has announced the availability of Power Pack 2 update for Windows Home Server. The English version of Power Pack 2 will
be available on March 24 and will automatically install as part of Windows Update if Automatic Updates is enabled on the Home Server. Power Pack for
Chinese, French, German, Japanese and Spanish will be available before the end of April. Power Pack 2 will also include support for Italian language.
Power Pack 2 includes enhancements for remote access configuration and computers running Windows Media Center, along with content streaming support
for Windows Media Center Extenders.

Microsoft is allowing Windows XP
Service Pack 2 machines to be offered Windows XP Service Pack 3 Release Candidate 2 via Windows Update. You may also download standalone update
packages for Windows XP SP3 RC2, in English, German, and/or Japanese. Windows XP Service Pack 3 will be offered on Windows Update when Service Pack 3
releases in the first half of 2008.
Windows Service Pack 2 is required in order to install this preview. Please uninstall any
previous beta release of Service Pack 3 before installing SP3 RC2.

Google gets rid of StarOffice from pack download
Everyone needs an Office Product on their computer and when Google added StarOffice to their free Google Pack it was a good move but in the last few
weeks they have quietly, without any
word, removed it from the download.
The Google Pack is a set of programs that is
aimed to give users everything they need to have on their computer for example it features Spyware Doctor, Norton Security Scan and Adobe Reader, but
this move by Google will not help Sun Microsystems.
Sun Microsystems who develop Star Office have not had a good year, last month they announced a loss of $1.7 billion,
when asked Sun Microsystems Chief Executive Jonathan I. Schwartz put it down to the weakness in the economy. This move by Google could be seen as
another step towards making everything that we need to use productively online, they already feature a Document and Spreadsheet Service.
At
the time of writing this article, Google have not released an official statement.

Windows XP Service Pack 3 RC2 via Windows Update (Public Availability Program)
Windows XP Service Pack 3 Release Candidate 2 is available to the public. Specific registry settings will allow you to be offered SP3 via Windows
Update.
Download the script and run it on a machine currently running Windows XP Service Pack 2. The script sets a registry key
on your system. The registry key is required for Windows Update to recognize your machine as a valid target for Windows XP Service Pack 3 RC2.
Versions of Windows XP Service Pack 3 prior to Release Candidate 2 should be removed before attempting to use the registry key.
Windows Update will not offer Release Candidate 2 to machines with previous versions of the Windows XP Service Pack 3 beta.
It is
recommended that you apply the resulting update package to an activated, genuine copy of Windows XP, in a test environment. As with any pre-release
software, it is also recommended that you back up files and settings on your machine before applying this update package.
