Analyzing 3 months of Vista reliability data
A Windows Vista feature which I make use of regularly is the Reliability Monitor. While being far from an ideal metric for measuring reliability, it does offer users a simple way to tell if their system is behaving or misbehaving.

Vista significantly!
Please note: These fixes
break all current methods of

old F8 during boot (that you

you start vista)
IF
you are using Rivatuner,
atitool and or Peerguardian on
64bit vista, you will have to
use F8 every single time to
disable driver signing
requirements to use those two
programs. x86 version is
unaffected.
These
updates should go official on
the next patch Tuesday (in one
weeks time). Please read more

30.07.2007Microsoft: Another Vista Reliability & Performance Update
Vista’s performance is one of those topics that won’t be exhausted until Windows Seven hits RTM. It all comes down to trade-offs. Ever
since the features of Vista were finalized, Microsoft tried to tip the scale the other way by focusing on performance, with the obvious limitation of
not disabling any services. Updates regarding performance and stability are numerous, but most have not hit Windows Update as they are not quite ready
(preview releases). The Windows Serviceability Team wants feedback on one such update, available for download at the Microsoft Download Center, before
its expected release on Windows Update in January.

13.12.2007Leaked Vista Hotfixes to be broadly available in the near future
Microsoft Corp. confirmed
today that the Vista hot-fix
packs that have leaked to the

users.
"We
plan to make these two updates
broadly available via Windows
Update in the near future," a
company spokeswoman said in an

The
two updates, dubbed "Vista
Performance and Reliability
Pack" and "Vista
Compatibility and Reliability
Pack," were posted over the
weekend to a third-party
download site after being
leaked from a group of Windows
Server 2008 testers. The list
of fixes -- which include
performance improvements to
Vista's sleep mode and speed
increases in copying or moving
large directories -- led some
users yesterday to speculate
that the updates were the
forerunner of Vista Service
Pack 1 (SP1), a major upgrade
that many businesses want to
see before they widely deploy
the new operating system. ..

07.01.2008London to have satellites that monitor your speed
In a trial that can only be described as Big Brotherly, London is going is going to start trials of attempting to stop speeders from space. The
basic idea works around that the vehicles are equipped with information about speed limits for public roads. A satellite will monitor the speed of
the car vs. the pre-installed data to determine if the car is speeding. If the car is found to be speeding then one of two things can happen. The car
can either be slowed down by the satellite (voluntary mode) or the car can alert you that you need to slow down but won't actually adjust the
vehicles speed (advisory mode).

This major update to Process Monitor adds real-time TCP and UDP monitoring to its existing process, thread, DLL, file system and registry
