How to Share Large File on The Web Using MegaUploadOne of the most advantage of using MegaUpload, compare with other similar service, is the duration how long your file(s) will be kept in their server. Your uploaded files will be deleted only after it become unused for 30 days. So, if many of your friends download it, over and over again, the files will always be there. The size is quite big, up to 250MB. Not as big as YouSendIt which allow up to 1GB file size, but it's more than enough to share your music files, movies, etc.

I think this could be considered as one of the weirder but non-critical "bugs" in both Vista RTM and Vista SP1. Thanks to Plax for the find:
1. Create a folder somewhere and put a file inside
2. Then open an Open file dialog from some application
3. Go
in the folder with the file and cut the file then rename the folder and paste the file somewhere else
4. Then you'll find out that instead
of the file a folder appeared

Long Zheng: During the betas, one of the few new functionality Windows Vista Service Pack 1 added was the ability to create a Windows recovery CD with an easy-to-use GUI interface. Up and
until then, it was slightly harder but still possible to do so through a command line.
Whilst all Vista install DVDs include the
recovery functionality natively, it’s probably useful to burn yourself a spare copy to take with you. You can also download an ISO from NeoSmart.net but you might not have bandwidth to

Microsoft confirmed it has fixed a bug in its online file storage and sharing service Windows Live FolderShare after users reported problems that the
service was deleting files without user authorization.
Microsoft sent an e-mail to users Friday alerting them that it has fixed a
bug that may have "accidentally moved" user files from their original folders into the FolderShare Trash folder, and that users should not delete
files in Trash until they ensure they were meant to be deleted. It also advised users how to retrieve deleted files from the Trash folder.
A copy of the information sent to users has been posted on the FolderShare Web
site.

neowin.net - 27.05.2008Patent filed for revolutionary technique to quickly recover lost passwords
ElcomSoft has discovered and filed for a US patent on a breakthrough technology that will decrease the time that it takes to perform password recovery
by a factor of up to 25. ElcomSoft has harnessed the combined power of a PC's Central Processing Unit and its video card's Graphics Processing Unit.
The resulting hardware/software powerhouse will allow cryptology professionals to build affordable PCs that will work like supercomputers when
recovering lost passwords.
Using the "brute force" technique of recovering passwords, it was possible, though time-consuming,
to recover passwords from popular applications. For example, the logon password for Windows Vista might be an eight-character string composed of
uppercase and lowercase alphabetic characters. There would about 55 trillion (52 to the eighth power) possible passwords. Windows Vista uses NTLM
hashing by default, so using a modern dual-core PC you could test up to 10,000,000 passwords per second, and perform a complete analysis in about
two months. With ElcomSoft's new technology, the process would take only three to five days, depending upon the CPU and GPU.
winbeta.org - 23.10.2007Vista file copying showdown: RTM vs SP1
Long Zheng: Copying files is the Achilles heel of Windows Vista, ścalculating time remaining¦ť the blue screen of death equivalent. If anyone tells
you Windows Vista isnt slow at copying files, then they obviously havent downloaded any DVDrips and tried to move it onto another computer. It was
anticipated Windows Vista Service Pack 1 would fix this problem amongst other things.
As announced this week, the first beta
build of SP1 (6001.16659) has been released on Microsoft Connect. The initial reaction from most tester has been largely positive noting improvements
in file operations such as moving, copying and deleting files. However I havent seen anyone post any benchmarks or evidence to prove it is indeed
faster.
winbeta.org - 28.09.2007DeluTube offers users a way to view deleted YouTube videos
DeluTube, as its name implies,
can serve up some video clips
even after YouTube has purged
them. That includes clips that
contain copyrighted music and
many clips that aren't work
safe. Delutube allows visitors
to enter the video ID (pulled
from the end of the YouTube
URL) of a deleted clip, then
attempts to retrieve the clip
from YouTube's system. Clips
are apparently not deleted
from YouTube's database at
the moment they are taken down
(or they at least persist in
YouTube's cache before being
cleared), allowing DeluTube a
chance of retrieving them. The
site also allows for the easy
downloading of the clips.
DeluTube isn't the
only service that can do such
a thing, of course, but it's
possibly the most ironic; the
site makes money serving
Google ads. The creation of
these services shows how much
demand exists for this sort of
material, and what a hard time
content owners have
controlling it. The line of
legality is very fuzzy since
the clips all come from
YouTube's servers, whether
they infringe on copyright
laws or are simply
inappropriate. Lawsuits are
undoubtedly coming, but will
they target YouTube for not
completely removing the videos
or will they target DeluTube
and other sites like it?
neowin.net - 15.03.2007Vista SP1 x86 appears on Torrent Sites
In the last few days, certain Neowin forum members have reported that an image of Vista SP1 x86 Final has leaked to torrent sites. This file is
supposedly a slipstreamed image of the final Service Pack 1 for Vista x86. It is allegedly available in various languages, including English. Since
many believe that this is indeed the download that Microsoft will provide in the upcoming weeks, I would like to emphasize that this is not the case.
This release is not official, nor is it genuine. I repeat: Vista SP1 has not gone final.
Neowin members are reporting that the file in
question may be SP1 Refresh 2 slipstreamed or simply a malware-filled release. I would like to remind our members not to post links to any Vista SP1
build, unless it comes directly from Microsoft’s servers.

winbeta.org - 06.07.2007RIAA throws in the towel in Atlantic v. Andersen
One of the most
notorious file-sharing cases
is drawing to a close. Both
parties in Atlantic v.
Andersen have agreed to
dismiss the case with
prejudice, which means that
Tanya Andersen is the
prevailing party and can
attempt to recover attorneys
fees.
Tanya Andersen
was originally sued by the
RIAA in 2005. She's a
disabled single mother with a
nine-year-old daughter living
in Oregon; she was targeted by
the music industry for
downloading gangster rap over
Kazaa under the handle
"gotenkito." She denied
engaging in piracy and in
October 2005, she filed a
countersuit accusing the
record industry of
racketeering, fraud, and
deceptive business practices,
among other things.
As we noted earlier today,
counterclaims accusing the
RIAA of all sorts of
wrongdoing have become
increasingly common. Late last
month, Andersen filed a motion
for summary judgment, saying
that the plaintiffs have
"failed to provide competent
evidence sufficient to satisfy
summary judgment standards"
to show that she engaged in
copyright infringement. Most
notably, a forensic expert
retained by the RIAA failed to
locate "any evidence
whatsoever" on Andersen's PC
that she had engaged in
file-sharing. ..
