29.04.2009Communicating Windows 7
Chris Flores: Typically when Microsoft ships a new OS (like Windows Vista), we immediately start talking about the next version-which begs two
questions: 1) is Microsoft working on a new version of Windows, and if so, 2) why aren't you talking about it?
I thought I would
spend a minute giving you an update on where we are. First, yes, we are working on a new version of Windows. As you likely know, it's called Windows
7.We are always looking for new ways to deliver great experiences for our customers. This is especially true of Windows - where we're constantly
examining trends in hardware, software and services to ensure that we continue to drive the innovation that has both made Windows the world's most
popular operating system and has provided a foundation on which our partners built great products and businesses. When we shipped Windows 2000, we
were already working on Windows XP and we started working on Windows Vista even before we released Windows XP. So naturally, we've been thinking
about the investments we made in Windows Vista and how we can build on these for the next version of Windows.

27.05.2008ZoneAlarm Security Suite 7.1 Adds Vista Support

its flagship security suite.
Vista-compatible versions of
ZoneAlarm Antivirus and the

Past versions of

Windows Vista retains support
for TDI, but introduces the

using TDI would have been

still use TDI.
Check

representatives explained that

26.10.2006Internet Explorer is now an optional feature in Windows 7
Along with various other changes that are to be reflected in Windows 7 RC, here is a big change that is not in the list. From Windows 7 build 7048,
Internet Explorer(IE) is an optional Windows feature and can be installed/uninstalled from Windows 7. This will be a welcoming (and surprising) news,
especially to European Union and Opera who have accused Microsoft for not giving consumers a genuine choice of Web browsers. If IE is upgraded to
version 8 in Vista (from version 7), users do get an option to uninstall IE 8, but not IE 7. IE 7 remains as integral component of Windows Vista which
cannot be removed.

12.12.2005Microsoft wants to freeze the Vista incapable lawsuit
EVER SLIPPERY, Microsoft asked that the "Vista Capable" lawsuit against it be stayed while it appeals the judge's approval of class action
standing for the case.
The lawsuit, filed almost a year ago, claims that Microsoft misled punters in late 2006 by letting PC makers stick
"Vista Capable" labels on lower power machines sold with Windows XP that were later found capable of running only the Home Basic version of Windows
Vista rather than the full version that includes most of Vista's new features including the Aero eye-candy graphical interface.
It
claims that PC buyers paid more for those machines than they would have parted with had they known that they wouldn't be able to support Windows
Vista when that was released a few months later in early 2007.
