must-read. Some of the keyboard shortcuts include moving windows a half screen at a time with Windows+Right (or
Left) Arrow, or using Windows+Up/Down to minimize/maximize. You can hit Windows+Home to minimize all the windows except the current one. Windows+T
will give focus to your taskbar, allowing you to zip through the windows with the arrow keys.

27.03.2007Windows 2003 KB: Slow network communication from Vista RTM (6000) to Windows 2003 SP2
Brad Rutkowski: This was one issue I worked on for quite some time a few months ago. We found that Vista clients were taking forever to download
group policies from domain controllers in the regions while Vista SP1 and XP clients did not see the issue. If the local DC was running LH or Windows
2003 SP1, we didn't see any issue. If the server was running Windows 2003 SP2 though and had a certain type of hardware we would see the latency.
Based on customer reports, Windows Dev learned of more widespread devices in the network that dont understand greater window
scale factors. So, they improved the heuristics in SP1 for when to limit or disable auto-tuning, which is why we only saw in in Vista RTM and not
SP1.
The bug is in Windows 2003 SP2 and the details can be found here:

latency when hitting a Windows 2003 SP2 server (File server, DC, Exchange, etc) then you should look into this hotfix.

Corporate bodies, such as businesses and the government, have traditionally been rather slow when it comes to adopting new software and technologies.
This is generally for security purposes, and because they don't see the point in upgrading from something that works. This frame of mind is not
going to change any time soon; Ars Technica is reporting that the US Army is going to finally be fully upgraded to Windows Vista and Office 2007 by
the end of 2009, despite Windows 7 quickly approaching. At the moment, Ars Technica believes that about half of the Army computers are running

for the Bitlocker data
encryption technology and have
restrictions on digital rights
management (DRM).
Microsoft however pulled
the planned changes at the
last minute and without
explanation.
Gartner
alleges that Microsoft is
delaying the licensing changes
because it wants to slow down
the desktop virtualisation
market. The firm currently
lacks a competitive
virtualisation product and
isn't expected to catch up

anticipated Windows Vista Service Pack 1 would fix this problem amongst other things.
As announced this week, the first beta
build of SP1 (6001.16659) has been released on Microsoft Connect. The initial reaction from most tester has been largely positive noting improvements
in file operations such as moving, copying and deleting files. However I havent seen anyone post any benchmarks or evidence to prove it is indeed
faster.
