Undo send email in Gmail

Many times we forget to add attachments, notice a spelling mistake or forgot to add something in the email. New in Google Labs is an add-on to your account that can undo the email you just sent, with a limit of five seconds, allowing you to go back and re-edit the email you previously just sent. Once the add-on is enabled under your Gmail settings, Labs and Undo Send, users will be promoted with an "Undo" button after sending an email, giving them just enough time to prevent regrettable emails. If users opt to undo the email they had just sent, they will be taken back to the email where edits can be made.

The next YouTube? You decide

A new online start-up with backing from the founders of YouTube and Sequoia Capital might just be the next big thing on the Internet. TokBox is a free service that lets you talk with your friends over live video through a web browser.

The idea is simple: millions of people now have web cams either built-in to their laptops, or connected to their desktops, and TokBox makes it easy to send a video message or video chat invitation via email.

Once your friend clicks the link and configures their camera, the video chat takes place within a web browser.

If your friend doesn't have a web cam you can send them a video message that they can view at TokBox. Once you've set up your TokBox account, you can add friends from your AIM, MSN or Yahoo account, and ping them via IM when you want to video chat online.

Mozilla Labs: Introducing Joey, Firefox and the Mobile Phone

Joey is Mozilla's answer to the mobile browsing problem: too much data necessary for download, poor accessibility to the data and the lack of formatting the content for the phone. " Project Joey brings the Web content you need most to your mobile phone by allowing you to easily send it to your device. You can quickly mark content that is important to you and have that content always available while using your mobile phone ." In other words, with the Joey Server, it will be possible to use Firefox to send text clippings, pictures, videos, RSS content, and Live Bookmarks to a phone. The Joey Server transcodes and keeps all of the content up-to-date.

The Joey application for mobile devices isn't complete yet, so users must use their current mobile browser to access information on the Joey server. Joey is currently in the early stages of development, but can be tested with Firefox, by creating an account at the link below. " The goal is to investigate the mobile space using a desktop-centric model. Like many other Mozilla projects, there are no plans to productize Joey. We will work with the community to build a compelling and usable tool that people will enjoy using ."

Two men send 217,000 text messages, $26,000 bill

Two men set out with the ambition to see how many text message they could send a month and rallied up 217,000 messages. The duo Nick Andes, 29, and Doug Klinger, 30, were relying on their unlimited text messaging plans to pay for the fiasco. In a mixup on T-mobile's end a bill was sent to Andes for the whopping sum of $26,000 which, as you can imagine, had him stunned at the expenses incurred. The bill alone cost T-Mobile $27.55 to ship to Andes but thankfully T-Mobile honored their unlimited text messaging plan and credit the amount back to the user.

Gmail Doubles Maximum Attachment Size to 20 MB

http://gmail.com/>Gmai l upgraded the maximum attachment size from 10 MB to 20 MB. Gmail was quite forgiving and you could send more than 10 MB in some cases, but now it's possible to send at least 20 MB in one message.

Of course, few mail providers will accept a such a big message, so it's safe to send messages bigger than 10 MB to other Gmail accounts, to Yahoo Mail Plus or to other premium accounts.

It would be nice if Gmail showed a progress bar for the upload and if uploading files to Gmail was faster and more reliable. But maybe we're asking too much.

Google add "unsend" function to emailing

Rare is the email user who hasn't experienced the instantaneous regret associated with sending a message you really shouldn't have. For gmail users however, that feeling. could be about to become a thing of the past.

A new "undo send" feature has been made available from Gmail Labs, a collection of extra settings built into Google's free webmail which allow users to test-drive additions to the service developed by Google engineers.

Turning on 'undo send' builds in a five-second delay to the emailing process, during which the email is held in stasis, while an option to cancel sending is displayed to the user. If the "undo send" option is not selected the email will be delivered as usual.

Michael Leggett, a Gmail User Experience Designer, explained what prompted the development of the feature on Gmail's official blog: "Sometimes I regret sending a message the morning after. Other times I send a message and then immediately notice a mistake...I could undo just about any other action in Gmail — why couldn’t I undo send?"

Google have previously attempted to help users avoid sending emails they may later regret with "Mail Goggles", a service launched in October 2008 which made users answer a number of maths questions before their messages were sent, theoretically preventing intoxicated emailers from contacting anyone inappropriately.

Microsoft search head denies new project

Word that Microsoft had a crack team of developers in Silicon Valley working on a cutting-edge search project is news to the company's head of search and advertising.

"When they get it done, I hope they'll send me a link to it so I'll know about it," Satya Nadella, corporate vice president of Microsoft's search and advertising platform group, jokingly said late on Monday at the Search Marketing Expo in Seattle.

He was responding to a question about a rumor making the rounds online that a team of engineers at Microsoft's Mountain View office is working on a new search engine to replace its existing one. ..

Visto to offer Exchange, Notes e-mail on iPhone

MSN Direct Enables Web Sites to Deliver Location Information to GPS Navigation Devices

Today Microsoft Corp. released an open application programming interface (API) for the MSN Direct Send to GPS feature for navigation devices. This allows any Web site to offer visitors the ability to send addresses, business listings, or other locations directly from the site to their GPS unit, eliminating the cumbersome step of re-entering or searching for the same information on their navigation device.

The API is an extension of the MSN Direct feature initially launched at International CES earlier this year. With this updated version, MSN Direct allows any Web site to send location information to navigation devices either wirelessly or via a USB connection. The wireless delivery is compatible with MSN Direct-enabled devices that have the Send to GPS feature, including several units from Garmin Ltd. such as the nüvi 780 and nüvi 880, along with nüvi 5000, nüvi 750, nüvi 760, or nüvi 2x5 series devices with the optional MSN Direct receiver. USB delivery is also compatible with the vast majority of remaining Garmin navigators.

Google Chrome extensions imminent

Techcrunch is reporting that it appears Google Chrome is about to receive it's long awaited extensions - the latest builds of Chrome - including the Windows, Mac and Linux builds are showing various links to a "extensions gallery" at Google.com which doesn't exist. In the new builds, a jigsaw piece appears next to the theme gallery button - if you click it, it'll send you right back to google.com, but if you hover over it, the link it shows it goes to https://chrome.google.com/extensions - presumably where the new gallery will be hosted. Next to the jigsaw piece is a bubble that says "New!

Adobe axes link to Kinkos in Acrobat, Reader

Adobe Systems will remove a menu option in its Acrobat and Reader programs that lets users send documents over the Internet to FedEx Kinkos for printing, the company said on Thursday.

The move comes after complaints from other printing companies, who view the feature as steering business to FedEx Kinkos, one of the larger printing services companies worldwide.

The menu option is included in Reader 8.1 and Acrobat 8.1, appearing in the "file" menu. The programs were released in June when the deal was announced.

By October, Adobe will release updated versions of the programs without the option. "We are implementing these changes as quickly as we can," Adobe said in a statement. "However, we need time to write and test the software." ..

New in Labs: Stop sending mail you later regret

Jon Perlow, Gmail engineer: <...> Gmail can't always prevent you from sending messages you might later regret, but today we're launching a new Labs feature I wrote called Mail Goggles which may help.

When you enable Mail Goggles, it will check that you're really sure you want to send that late night Friday email. And what better way to check than by making you solve a few simple math problems after you click send to verify you're in the right state of mind?
