Microsoft Romania Launches Gadget Competition for Windows Vista
Microsoft Romania has just launched a gadget competition for Windows Vista and Windows Live. Essentially, the contest is nothing more than a repeat of the Windows Vista Gadgets Competition on Code Project, with the sole exception that entries can now be submitted for both the client and the cloud Microsoft operating systems.

28.03.200710 Ways Vista is more annoying with Windows 7 available
We all know Windows Vista got a bit of a bum rap. Its biggest sin was that it shipped earlier than it should and its reputation has never recovered.
However, with Windows 7 now out, those of us who have to switch between PCs now find ourselves discovering completely new things about Windows Vista
that are annoying -- because they are things that Windows 7 made so much better. Here's our list... #1 "Program not responding" Windows
Vista loved to throw programs under the bus for not responding. This was especially true of Windows Explorer which regularly would fade out a window
because it was trying to access a network resource.

19.02.2008CES: Where Vista Wasn't
Windows Vista was everywhereand yet nowhere at this year's Consumer Electronics Show.
Vista was everywhere, because the
operating system was on most PCs. But it was nowhere, in terms of branding and marketing. Microsoft banners and other promotional material reverted to
"Windows" branding with no "Vista." Where Microsoft had Vista, something else accompanied it, like Windows Live, Media Center or Windows Media
Extender.
Now what does that say about Vista, the brand and Microsoft's commitment to Windows XP's successor? Has
Microsoft given up on Windows Vistaas a brand, at least? The answer is perhaps yes.

11.01.2008Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Beta Whitepaper
When developing Windows Vista, Microsoft set out to provide higher levels of productivity, mobility, and security, with lower costs. After more than
six months of broad availability and usage, it's evident that these investments are improving the Windows computing experience. For example, in the
first six months of use, Windows Vista had fewer security issues than Windows XP (Windows Vista had only 12 issues, and Windows XP had 36). According
to the Windows Vista 6-Month Vulnerability Report by Jeffery R. Jones, Windows Vista had fewer security issues than all the popular operating systems
he studied.
Although most companies are cautious when deploying a new operating system, many have already started testing and
evaluating Windows Vista for deployment, and some have already deployed Windows Vista into their production environments and begun seeing the business
benefits Windows Vista can provide.
Microsoft's efforts to provide the best Windows experience ever in Windows Vista did not end
with its launch. This white paper describes the ways Microsoft strives to continuously improve Windows Vista. It then introduces Windows Vista Service
Pack 1 (SP1) and describes how the service pack will fit into the ongoing improvement process.
