Usually whenever RapidShare updates their CAPTCHA, it only took a few days for third party download tools to auto recognize it. One of the toughest CAPTCHA was with cats and dogs in them and it took 3-4 weeks to be cracked. A few days after the cats and dogs CAPTCHA has been cracked, RapidShare installed a new CAPTCHA system called TEABAG_3D.

20.2.2007Rapidshare To Be Forced to Shut Down Following Court Defeat?
The music industry in Germany has secured a legal victory over the hugely popular file-hosting service, Rapidshare. According to the rights holders,
Rapidshare is going to have to stop its users from downloading infringing music tracks from its servers, or face the prospect of being shut down.
Last week we reported on
rumors that Rapidshare had, or was about to be, shut down, rumors that now look likely to resurface. The company, one of the
worlds largest ˜one-click file hosting services, has lost a copyright infringement case against German performing rights outfit, GEMA. Representing a
claimed 60,000 members and more than 1 million rights owners worldwide, GEMA has taken an aggressive stance in pursuing legal action against
Rapidshare, trying to force it to be accountable for the infringing actions of its users.

29.01.2008Computational knowledge engines: the search engine, evolved
A new search engine, known as Wolfram|Alpha has launched. It may be improper to refer to it as a search engine, as it refers to itself as a
"computational knowledge engine". The engine differs from a traditional search engine in that the goal of the engine is not only to make
information accessible, but in the case of WolframAlpha, immediately computable. To perhaps give a better explanation of what WolframAlpha is, let us
walk through an average searching scenario. I stumble on the website, and in the search field I decide to type my city's name, Toronto. If the
website stumbled upon were Google, one would now have access to several pages referring to Toronto.

company has certainly been mentioned a lot lately as a competitor, but nothing has been speculated about them improving their current offering. Now,

06.11.2007Wikia Search Goes Online Next Week
Wikia co-founder and chairman Jimmy Wales announced the public will get its first view of Wikia Search, an open source, community-driven search
engine, on January 7. Wales admits his company's search engine is not an immediate challenger to Google or Yahoo, but hopes the community
construction of the search engine will bring increased transparency to the method by which search results appear.
On Monday, search
enthusiasts can start building Wikia Search by filtering and ranking search results using open-source software and community-based editorial influence
that will result in a more transparent process that allows end-users to see how search results are obtained. Wales says he hopes to have an index of
between 50 to 100 million Websites when the search engine launches. "This is the public launch of a full-scale, high quality search engine," he
says. "We're looking at every point in the process to see where we can push the editorial control out into the community."
