Tools to Automate RapidShare Downloading for Free Users With No CAPTCHA

RapidShare CAPTCHA has always been hacked no matter how tough they made it. Usually whenever RapidShare updates their CAPTCHA, it only took a few days for third party download tools to auto recognize it. One of the toughest CAPTCHA was with cats and dogs in them and it took 3-4 weeks to be cracked. A few days after the cats and dogs CAPTCHA has been cracked, RapidShare installed a new CAPTCHA system called TEABAG_3D.

Rapidshare To Be Forced to Shut Down Following Court Defeat?

The music industry in Germany has secured a legal victory over the hugely popular file-hosting service, Rapidshare. According to the rights holders, Rapidshare is going to have to stop its users from downloading infringing music tracks from its servers, or face the prospect of being shut down.

Last week we reported on rumors that Rapidshare had, or was about to be, shut down, rumors that now look likely to resurface. The company, one of the worlds largest ˜one-click file hosting services, has lost a copyright infringement case against German performing rights outfit, GEMA. Representing a claimed 60,000 members and more than 1 million rights owners worldwide, GEMA has taken an aggressive stance in pursuing legal action against Rapidshare, trying to force it to be accountable for the infringing actions of its users.

As ISPs choke file-sharing, users look elsewhere

As ISPs constrict file-sharing services such as BitTorrent, new data shows that users are moving to file-hosting Web sites to avoid slow downloads.

RapidShare and MegaUpload are among the most used file-hosting services. Together, the two sites account for 9 percent of all Internet traffic in the Middle East and 4 percent in Germany, according to iPoque, a company based in Leipzig, Germany, that specializes in traffic-management appliances for ISPs.

The percentages are significant since over the last year usage of file-sharing sites, which number in the dozens, has surged, said Klaus Mochalski, iPoque's CEO. The sites offer potentially faster download speeds for sharing files than peer-to-peer networks.

Lost iPhones no more, Apple introduces find my iPhone

Today at Apple's WWDC many interesting things have been unveiled, Snow Leopard has become fully announced with dates and pricing, but perhaps one of the most interesting pieces of news is for iPhone users who now have a new piece of technology to help them find their iPhone should it have gone walkabout. Aptly named 'Find my iPhone' is an important feature according to Apple because "It can be somewhat traumatic" to lose your phone. Obviously, however it is a feature which can do some pretty nifty things. Firstly, it is only availible to Apple's 'Mobileme' customers which is a bit of a shame but it'll show you on a map where your phone is.

Microsoft Australia: Find $10,000 on the Internet using IE8

Here's an interesting way to promote your browser: The Australian division of Microsoft is running a competition in which you can 'find' $10,000 hidden somewhere on the Internet. As you can probably imagine, the only way to win at this is by using the latest addition to the Internet Explorer family, IE8. Here's the steps Microsoft want you to go through in order to be up and running with this: 1) Ditch the web browser you're using. If you try to find the $10,000 with your current browser, you'll get nowhere. 2) Download Microsoft's best ever browser, Internet Explorer 8. It's the only browser capable of cracking all the clues. 3) Follow @tengrand_IE8 on Twitter for the daily clues.

'Find My iPhone' used to catch a thief

iPhones are expensive, and some people want them without paying, and so they steal them. PCPro is reporting on one case in which the new "Find My iPhone" feature helped one man and his mates to track down his stolen iPhone and retrieve it from the thief who pinched it. LiveJournal blogger Kevin Miller, a.k.a. happywaffle, from Austin, Texas, explains in detail that he and some friends were up in Chicago "to attend Brickworld, the world's largest Lego convention". The other night they had finished up in a rundown bar in uptown Chicago. It was there, as happywaffle later discovered, that he had lost his phone--and that one of the barmen had found it and decided to keep it.

Msg Plus! Live Leaked

The highly anticipated Messenger Plus Live! has leaked, despite the best efforts of developer Patchou.

A group or person by the name of "ENJOi", tonight uploaded the 9mb setup file to RapidShare (which has since been removed).

The build which leaked, carries the build number 4.0.0.214, which to non-testers, it is not known wether this is a new or old build.

A few days ago, Messenger fan site Mess.be posted that there was a file circulating that claimed to be the messenger add-on, when in actual fact it was a virus designed to cripple your Messenger account.

Patchou has been made aware of the situation and has not made any statement as of yet.

Thanks for the heads up Liger !

Old Plus! Meets New WLM

It seems that a few guys over at mess.be have been digging out their old builds of Messenger Plus! and to their suprise have found that certain Plus! builds are around 80% fully compatible with the latest WLM build 562.
Messenger Plus! 3.61 (released in October, get it here) and older versions do work with 8.0.0562, although limited to a small set of features like the Messenger lock and the boss key and most likely a few other minor features.

Patchou however, does not recommend this combo and advises to uninstall Plus! as soon as WLM starts behaving strangely.

Patchou has already started developing Messenger Plus! Live specifically for Windows Live Messenger which we previously reported back in December 2005.

Twitter, and why it's not just about what your breakfast was

Twitter has taken the internet by storm since its creation in 2006, but every day I seem to find somebody who states, "I just don't get Twitter. It seems all people to is tell others about what they're doing... what's the point of that?" Well, thankfully, there's not much to get. Those people I find who say that seem to think that Twitter is for people who are incredibly boring and wish to tell others about their incredibly boring lives; those very same people tend to be those who have actually never used the service. Twitter features the tagline 'What are you doing?'. This, to me, actually doesn't seem very appropriate any more.

Windows 7: Find and Organize Part 2 - Building Federated Search applications

In Part 1, you saw the user experience of finding and organizing your files in Windows 7.

In Part 2, David Washington and Brandon Paddock show how developers can build federated search applications that enable you to easily search your organization's intranet or the Web and integrate those search results directly into Windows Explorer.

The best part is that instead of needing to install software on Windows 7 to get new search providers, you simply run an XML configuration file to add a search provider to your machine!

AOL Redesigns Video Portal

AOL on Monday issued an update to its AOL Video service that it says will make it easier for users to find, watch, and share web videos.

The company's video site is one of the fastest growing on the Internet. Its unique visitors have tripled over the past nine months, while the number of page views has grown by 12 times, AOL said.

"Consumers want just one place where they can go to find and watch all of the videos they're looking for and our new AOL Video portal gives them just that: a single website that brings together millions of videos from across the Web," video chief Fred McIntyre said...
