Are You Protected? - Design and Deploy Secure Web Apps with ASP.NET 2.0 and IIS 6.0
Web applications are among the most common computing services that are exposed to the Internet, and thus they pose an inviting target to anyone who wants to break into your network to steal sensitive information, tamper with your data, or otherwise compromise your system.
Ensuring the security of a Web application is a serious task, and requires consideration throughout the design, development, deployment, and operation phases. It should not be viewed as something that can be slapped onto an existing application, or achieved simply by applying existing platform security features.

feature without any user-interface specifically to invoke it. As with all features this is a collaboration across all of our engineering disciplines.

13.10.2007How do Apple's designs affect consumers?
Apple has always been a company known for design; not just design, but even the most loathing Apple hater will have to admit at some time that the
company does make some pretty well thought out products. Robert Brunner over at Fast Company has written an interesting blog post about Apple's
design, and how other companies attempt to replicate it, sometimes producing a bad result for the end user. Brunner has said, "Here's the gist:
Apple has been so successful in design, that to many people if something does not resemble an iPhone, iPod, MacBook, etc., it is not 'good
design.' If it is not an uber-simple, highly-rationalized, single-buttoned, machined-from-a-solid-block-of aluminum thing, it can't be good,
right?

11.06.2009Google testing new homepage design in Taiwan, Hong Kong
Google is testing a new
homepage design in Taiwan and
Hong Kong that takes advantage
of faster broadband speeds in
those markets, one of the
company's founders said
Thursday.
"We're
actually now experimenting
with trying new kinds of
homepages, for example in
Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong,
that are a completely
different type than we've
tried before on our U.S. site
as well as our European

company's president of
technology, speaking to
investors during a conference

Google
announced the new design for
its South Korean Web site in
May, during a keynote speech
by Chairman and CEO Eric
Schmidt at the Seoul Digital

ditches Google's famously
clean homepage design, adding

Google is trying out a new
look on its South Korean
http://www.google.co.kr/ig?sp=
korea&hl=ko>Web site that goes
further from the company's
famously clean design than
anything tried before.
Google has been quietly
tinkering with the design of
its Web site for some time.
Most recently, the company
added a toolbar with text
links at the top of its
flagship site, just above the
company's logo and search
bar. The new site design
introduced in South Korea
replaces the toolbar with an
array of logos -- including a
row of animated icons that
expand when the mouse rolls
over them -- that add a dose
of color, and clutter, to the
site.
Eric Schmidt,
the chairman and CEO of
Google, announced the new look
during a keynote speech
Wednesday at the Seoul Digital
Forum, saying Korean users
were ready for the new design,
which he described as more
sophisticated. Schmidt didn't
say whether the company
planned to use the same design
on other Google sites. ..

31.07.2007Microsoft: Malware can disable UAC in Windows 7 "by design"
A month has barely passed since the public beta debut of Windows 7 and we have our first horror story. UAC (user account control) was the major gripe
with Windows Vista which annoyed most tech savvy users and confused ordinary consumers. Microsoft has changed the behavior in Windows 7, lowering the
requirement for user interaction when changing system settings. The apparent downside to this is, according to reports, the way Microsoft has changed
the behavior makes it extremely easy for malware authors to write code to disable UAC without user intervention.

28.07.2009Via Releases Laptop Design as Open Source
Via Technologies released the hardware design for a low-cost laptop with WiMax support under an open-source license on Tuesday, a move intended to
make customization easier and shorten design cycles for system makers. The CAD (computer-assisted design) files for the OpenBook reference design can
be downloaded for free and made available to anyone under the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 3.0 license. The terms of this license allow the
CAD files to be freely copied, shared and modified.
The only requirements are that use of the design is attributed to Via and changes made
to the design can only be distributed under the same license or one that has similar terms. "We're hoping we'll get some interesting
feedback, and look forward to seeing what the community thinks about this concept," said Richard Brown, vice president of marketing at Via.
