next three or four years. Only last year, Steve Jobs proudly unveiled the new MacBook Pro line that boasted NVIDIA 8600M GT graphics processors, but
as mentioned, they may already have had their turn.

24.05.2007Nvidia denies quiting chipset business?
Nvidia has released an official statement refuting the
recent story claiming that the company is planning to quit its chipset business. Michael Jong, senior director of corporate
marketing for Nvidia indicated that Nvidia has no intention of getting out of the chipset business and that the report is completely groundless.
But according to
The Inquirer,
DigiTimes got its facts correct.
Just over a week ago, Nvidia's maximum leader, Jen-Hsun Huang, held a meeting with Taiwanese
mobo partners. He directly asked them if there was a reason why Nvidia should stay in the chipset business. You could hear the crickets chirp.
In mainland China. No one came up with a reason, so the division was officially killed, and the teams will be rolled into GPU projects.
The INQUIRER has talked to people who were at the meeting, and they confirmed the reports, and are dead convnced that Nvidia chipsets
are a thing of the past.
What’s your take on the rumours? Are Nvidia going the way of Via? Or do you think the best is yet to come
from Nvidia's chipset division?

07.06.2007Nvidia gives up on its chipset business
According to
DigiTimes Nvidia has given in to its rivals and is closing it motherboard
business. Mole’s from inside Taiwan top motherboard makers said.
“Nvidia called a meeting earlier this week with its motherboard partners to gauge support for it
continuing to develop chipsets in the future. The motherboard makers' response? Silence”.
It is
expected that Nvidia will now concentrate on its GPU business and will move its resources from its motherboard development team to aid its GPU team.
Its assumed that Nvidia will be under pressure in the GPU field now due to ATI having crossfire support, while Nvidia now has to try and

With this impending withdrawal from the Motherboard market also casts doubt on the recent whispers about
Nvidia developing a chipset for Apple’s new Macbook Pro.
