New virus threatens Linux and Windows PCs
Hackers have released code for a cross-platform virus that could infect Linux and Windows computers.
The virus, which has been given the names Virus.Linux.Bi.a/ Virus.Win32.Bi.a, was reported at the end of last week by security firm Kaspersky Lab. Researchers worry that the malicious code may be part of a disturbing new trend of viruses that can run on Windows, as well as other operating systems that have been largely ignored by hackers.

06.12.2008Movie to be based off of the 'I Love You' virus.
The movie entitled, "I Love You", based off of the well-known "Melissa Virus" is in post production and scheduled for release some time in 2009.
It stars Kristin Bauer, Dean Cain and Briana Evigan.
For those who need a refresher the "I Love You" virus was a worm released on May 4th
2000, that upon infection would mail itself to those on the contact list of the infected. It also made several malicious changes to the infected
computer. Its name was acquired from the fact that it was usually sent as an attachment in an email that had "I Love You" as a subject header.
The movie, according to Evigan, is about a Filipino boy who attempts to contact an American girl. His attempts are unsuccessful so his friends
suggest that he send out a computer virus. Unfortunately, there is not much information available at this point and time. It is also relatively
unclear is the inspiration of the "I Love You" virus is evident solely in the fact that the boy writes a virus, or whether this will be a movie
playing on the origin of the actual virus.

10.02.2009Trend, Sophos and McAfee flunk Vista SP1 anti-virus tests
Top tier anti-virus vendors including McAfee, Trend Micro, and Sophos all failed to secure Windows Vista SP1 in recent independent tests.
Virus Bulletin, the independent security certification body, said 17 of 37 anti-virus products tested failed to reach the VB100 certification
standard. McAfee VirusScan, Trend Micro Internet Security and Sophos Anti-Virus overlooked threats known to be in circulation. Other vendors whose
products failed to make the grade included Alwil, BitDefender, Norman, PC Tools, and VirusBuster.
Some of the ignored threats -
largely polymorphic file infectors - have been in circulation for months. "It is disappointing to see so many products tripping up over threats that
are not even new - computer users should be getting a better service from their anti-virus vendors than this," Virus Bulletin technical consultant
John Hawes said.
