It appears Mac lovers might be in for a treat in the near future, following some digging by Apple technology site Applesana.es. Having browsed

references to two new Macbook Pro models. It is reported that the 10.6.2 update to the operating system (build 10C531) hold the configuration files
in which Applesana made the discovery. Within the files references to Macbook Pro 6.1 and Macbook Pro 6.1b are made. The current crops of Macbook Pros

31.07.2006Apple offers 15-inch MacBook Pro with matte display option
Yup, that's right. Apple have extended the matte display option on customised orders from Apple.com to the 15-inch MacBook Pros. For $50 more,
you get a screen less susceptible to glare from light (particularly the sun), with supposedly less vibrant colours, no glass screen, and a silver
bezel as opposed to a black bezel. The news follows rumours that Apple were considering extending the matte option from the 17-inch MacBook Pro to
its other offerings, but it remains to be seen whether or not this trend will continue. With the 13-inch now a part of the Pro family, could the baby
Pro be the next in line for the antiglare option?

15.10.2008MacBook Line and Pro Apps to be Updated at WWDC
Today, 9to5mac received a tip from one of their "favorite sources" stating the MacBook lines and Pro software will receive an update come WWDC.
Their source expects for the updates to be considered primarily minor.
While any specific rumors regarding what exactly is going to be
be changed are currently unavailable, it's fair to speculate that some minor speed bumps will be thrown into the MacBook and MacBook Pro which were
last updated in October. Early in the year, we also heard a few whispers that Apple may be incorporating 3G in their notebooks which could very well
appear in the next update.
While software updates are expected to be rather minor, Apple may be introducing a new version of QuickTime
Pro under a different name. The latest version of QuickTime X in Snow Leopard is reported to leave out several previously found "pro" features,
suggesting a new application may be in the works. Also in software, Snow Leopard, which was supposed to be released in Q1 this year, may be making an
appearance this upcoming update, possibly announcing its availability.
WWDC 2009 will take place June 8th through the 9th in San
Francisco.

Apple building the 15-inch Air?
When Apple launched its MacBook Air the industry was thrilled by the idea of a super slim laptop that could fit in a manila envelope. The laptop line
is so thin that a reporter accidently tossed his MacBook Air in the trash. Apple.Pro is reporting that Apple is working on a 15inch Air model; this
site is also the same one that broke word of unibody MacBooks. Based on the history of accuracy from Apple.Pro there may be some substance to this
rumor de jour. While the idea of a super slim 15inch laptop is intriguing; it would muddy up the line between the MacBook Pro and the Air lineup as
the MacBook Pro is relatively thin.

17" MacBook Pro: Non-removable Battery?
Recently, 9to5Mac has reported that Apple will release an updated 17" MacBook Pro at MacWorld. We expect for this rumor to hold true as 9to5Mac have
leaked accurate information on the new iPods and the unibody MacBooks in the past.
According to their source, battery life on the 17"
MacBook Pro will be significantly increased and will use a much slimmer battery. However, the battery will be non-removable, similar to the batteries
in MacBook Airs and all iPods. As expected, the machine will take on the unibody look as seen on the latest MacBooks and MacBook Pros.
9to5Mac also believes that the white MacBook will be dropped, which may bring down the price of unibody MacBooks.
MacWorld starts
tomorrow, January 5, and continues until January 9. Several new products discussed in the past weeks are predicted to be released such as the iPhone
Nano and updated desktops.

4 months with the new MacBook Pro
It's been nearly 4 months since Neowin reviewed the new, 2008 15" Apple MacBook Pro. So, how's it been doing? My initial review was very
positive, and I was optimistic on how the unibody enclosure felt, as well as the sturdiness of the machine. Unfortunately, my opinion has changed
slightly since then. Don't get me wrong, this laptop was worth every penny for me. It runs all of my applications blazingly fast, and balances
size and weight with power very effectively. But as with all first generation Apple products, there have been some small issues, and I've already
sent the laptop in for repair twice.

Apple hit with class-action suit over MacBook, MacBook Pro displays
Apple Inc. has been
hit with another class-action
lawsuit. This time the formal
complaint comes courtesy of a
pair of MacBook and MacBook
Pro owners who charge the
company with falsely
advertising the quality and
capabilities of the displays
used in the Intel
notebooks.
In the May 3rd filing with
the Superior Court of
California for the County of
San Diego, private citizens
Fred Greaves and Dave Gatley
are seeking multiple forms of
relief and reimbursement, in
addition to an injunction that
would prevent Apple from
continuing to market its
existing notebook displays
alongside claims that they
support "millions of colors"
and offer views "simply
unavailable on other
portables."
Specifically, they charge
that the Cupertino-based
company's MacBook and MacBook
Pro notebook displays are only
capable of displaying the
"illusion of millions of
colors through the use of a
software technique referred to
as 'dithering,' which causes
nearby pixels on the display
to use slightly varying shades
of colors that trick the human
eye into perceiving the
desired color even though it
is not truly that color."..

Apple updates its notebook line
During its Notebook event at Apple's Town Hall today, Apple refreshed its entire notebook line, utilizing glass and aluminum on their redesigned
models. The new MacBook and MacBook Pro begin shipping today, and will utilize updated processors, GPU's, and RAM. In addition, Apple has updated
the MacBook Air with a new GPU and a bigger hard drive.
Along with these updates, Apple has announced a new LED backlit cinema display,
with a similar aluminum and glass design.
The new laptops have a new kind of trackpad, discarding the button and instead making the whole
trackpad a clickable button. The trackpad is also multi-touch, and made completely of glass for smoother tracking.
The GPU utilized in the
new notebooks - the nVidia GeForce 9400M and 9600M GT for the MacBook and MacBook Pro respectively - is one of the newest offerings from nVidia. Apple
is the first to bring these cards to market, and are promising up to 5x the performance of the previous Intel chipset offered in earlier MacBooks.
Along with the new features and hardware, Apple will now manufacture the laptops in a new way which they say will reduce waste and result in a
more durable laptop. The new process involves taking a block of aluminum and carving out the new case. The process is more precise, resulting in a
thinner and more durable build.
The new MacBook starts at $1,299 USD, while the MacBook Pro is selling for $1,999 USD and up. Apple
is still selling the white, plastic MacBook for $999, and the 17 inch MacBook Pro maintains the classic MacBook Pro design.
Stay tuned
for Neowin's review of the new MacBook Pro.
