The vote to create the committee would have been unanimous, however OpenDocument supporter IBM voted against the proposal while HP abstained. Critics outside of Ecma questioned the organization's move to standardize what they consider to be a proprietary format.

From the Windows Vista Blog: I have a quick update for you about Windows Vista SP1. The Microsoft Update Blog contains some important information

Windows users, so not everyone will get it on the same day. In fact, it will go to a small percentage of Windows Vista users each day. The exact
timing of when you will receive it depends on when your PC is ready for Windows Vista SP1.
In addition to starting the automatic delivery
of the first 5 languages, I wanted to take this opportunity to tell you that also we're on track for the initial release of SP1 in the remaining
languages in mid-April.

07.06.2007Sun's ODF plugin for MS Office now available
The Sun ODF Plug-in is an
extension to Microsoft Office
that allows it to read and
write ISO standard ODF files.
It supports Office 2000, XP,
and 2003, and works on Windows
XP and Vista. It adds to MS
Office the ability to read and
write ODF text, spreadsheet,
and presentation files (.odt,
.ods, and .odp) - the ISO
standard editions of MS Word,
Excel, and PowerPoint files.
Furthermore, ODF text
files (.odt) can be made the
default format for MS-Word
thanks to this plug-in (and
double-clicking on an ODF text
file on the desktop would
automatically open it in
MS-Word).
Addressing
the accessibility concerns of
existing MS-Office users was
one of the key reasons behind
Sun's development of the ODF
plug-in, and I have been one
of several folks involved in
testing the accessibility of
this plug-in (along with
several beta testers whose
employees with disabilities
were likewise doing
accessibility testing).

25.10.2006Office 2007 SP1 Update Availability Clarification
Bobbie Harder: Posting this as I've noted just a little bit of confusion with how Office 2007 SP1 is made available for download after it's release
yesterday. As you know, Office 2007 SP1 was released yesterday to Microsoft Update, and to WSUS as part of the Tues, Dec 11th release.
As planned, Office 2007 SP1 was not pushed via Automatic Updates. There has been some confusion where Windows Vista customers are seeing
Office 2007 SP1 listed as available with an option to install in their Windows Update control panel applet. The new Vista experience of the Windows
Update applet combines the convenience of the Microsoft Update site, by isting all applicable available updates, and the best of the Automatic
Updates behavior. This allows users to specify what update types they want to automatically download and install (and when), as well as combines the
interactive experience of the Microsoft Update site.
