9.9.2009 Microsoft Update now works with IE7
When
Internet Explorer 7 Beta released to testers it left testers with a broken Windows Update that wouldn't load properly, disabling the ability to update Windows with critical patches that have been released since the end of July. This seems to of been fixed and on my PC it even redirects to Microsoft Update before my chosen homepage is loaded.

Microsoft Works on Comcast E-Mail Problem
Microsoft said Friday that some people who use its Hotmail and MSN e-mail services are not receiving e-mail sent from Comcast accounts and other Internet service providers.
Brooke Richardson, a group product manager with Microsoft's MSN online division, said the problem appears to be due to an increase in e-mail volumes, which it is attributed in part to the Sober Internet worm.

Windows Mobile Gmail fans are getting antsy about a known glitch in the mobile e-mail offering that hasn't been fixed by Google in about a month.
In October, Google began supporting IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) for Gmail, which means that when mobile users send and receive Gmail
e-mail on their mobile phones, their changes are synched, appearing the next time the user accesses Gmail from any device. With POP3, previously the
only e-mail protocol supported by Gmail, if a user deleted a Gmail message from their inbox using their cell phone, the message would still appear in
the inbox the next time the user logged on to Gmail from their computer.
However, shortly after the IMAP capability was activated, users
of Windows Mobile phones began complaining in online forums about problems. Some of them said that HTML e-mails showed up blank on their phones.
Others said that message headers appeared on their phones but not the messages themselves. The problem appears to affect mainly Windows Mobile users.
In late October, one user complained to Google about the problem with Windows Mobile and got a reply saying that Google hadn't had the chance to
test the Windows Mobile mail client.

This week, memory module manufacturer Corsair announced a new set of high-performance DDR3 modules that fit Intel's Extreme Memory specification.
These modules have additional overclocking profiles built into the SPD (serial presence detect) ROM on the memory module, which allows simple and
reliable overclocking of memory. Intel Extreme Memory is intended for the upcoming release of high-end desktop motherboards using Intel's X38
chipset.
Intel Extreme Memory is similar in concept to SLI Ready Memory (aka "Extended Performance Profiles, or EPP) developed
by Nvidia and, coincidentally, Corsair. However, the way the Intel Extreme profiles are burned into SPD differs from the way Nvidia has specified EPP.
The next generation of EPP, dubbed EPP 2.0, is in the works, but will also differ from Intel Extreme Memory. EPP 2.0 will add
DDR3 support for unannounced Nvidia chipsets.
When asked if this might increase buyer confusion, Corsair Vice President of
Marketing Jack Peterson noted that the company planned an educational campaign, using price breaks and bundling to steer users to the right memory and
motherboard combination. Peterson also suggested that the company was investigating a utility that would allow users to re-burn EPP profiles into
Intel Extreme Memory and vice versa, but no final decision has been made.

over a series of 150 Web page loads using an automated script. Firefox 3.5 shows the lowest memory usage in all categories, including average memory
usage, maximum memory usage, and final memory usage. Chrome uses over 1 GB of memory due to its process architecture. Safari 4 and Opera show memory
usage degradation over time, while Chrome and Firefox 3.5 are more reliable in freeing memory to the OS.

Microsoft is
still planning to offer a paid
version of the next version of
its consumer/home-office
productivity suite. It will
cost $39.95 at retail about
$10 per copy less than Works
8.0.
Theres
still no link or mention of
the free, ad-funded version of
the next version of Microsoft
Works, which Satya Nadella,
the head of Microsofts search
and ad platform unit, said
that Microsoft had released as
of late last week.
I wonder if the ad-funded
version of Works 9 will debut
as a service, instead of
software. Such an offering
would make Works 9 more of a
real competitor to Google Docs
& Spreadsheets, in my opinion,
than would a fat-client
offering.
Microsoft still isnt
providing any more specifics.

That hasn't stopped Sparkle
from announcing its Calibre
P768 card based on Geforce
7600 GT 80nm chip. I guess
Nvidia had to do it in 2006 as
it promised to its investors
it was supposed to shift from
90 nanometre to 80 a while
ago.
The new 80
nanometre parts will end up
clocked at 650MHz - 90MHz
faster than the previous 7600
GT clock. The chip behind it
is G73 but we don't know what
Nvidia calls the new 80
nanometre ones. The memory on
Sparkle card works at 1600MHz
and Nvidia hasn't changed the
chip memory support as it
still works with 128 bit
memory only. The card comes
with 256MB memory and has
twelve rendering pipelines. It
supports PCIe 16X interface.

Those seem quite limiting.
It is unknown yet in what
cases those error messages

but it is suspected that those

messaging session with Yahoo!
