would be last build leaked before the RTM. The build string is 7229.0.090604-1901 meaning that it was compiled a week ago. Earlier this week, build
7227 leaked to the public. Initial reports indicate that you can not use your RC keys with this build, so if you want to activate properly you
should not upgrade to this build. Windows 7 is still on track for a July RTM, and it's possible that it may even RTM by the end of June.
Microsoft has announced that it will be available in stores October 22nd.

meaning this build is only a week old. As ever the build is available at the usual places but it might be worth waiting until RTM as a lot of Windows
7 torrents have been hit by malware and viruses recently. Microsoft is still on target to finalise Windows 7 over the summer with a general

Microsoft has responded to pirates by blacklisting the Lenovo OEM key that leaked earlier this week. On Tuesday Neowin reported that pirates were
able to modify their BIOS and activate copies of Windows 7 Ultimate with a Lenovo OEM master key. Microsoft have worked with Lenovo to blacklist the
master key before Windows 7 starts shipping with new PCs in October. According to Alex Kochis, Director of Genuine Windows at Microsoft: "we've
worked with that manufacturer so that customers who purchase genuine copies of Windows 7 from this manufacturer will experience no issues validating
their copy of Windows 7.

Since a technical preview version of Office 2010 leaked barely a day ago it seems to have spread to anyone and everyone, despite a limited official
technical preview scheduled for July. We already knew that Office 2010 will ship in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions (and the technical preview was
leaked in both these flavours) and earlier this week it was confirmed that it will run on Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista and Windows 7 as well. Robert
McLaws is one of the many who has downloaded and installed the leaked build on Windows 7, and has discovered that parts of the Office suite have been
optimised for Windows 7 by utilising the new jump lists feature.

Several reports from users using the latest leaked build of Windows 7 indicate a potential data corruption issue using Microsoft's Windows Media
Player 12. Windows 7 beta 1 build 7000 leaked over the Christmas holidays and a Microsoft spokesperson has confirmed that there is a bug which
affects the leaked build. Approximately 2-3 seconds will get shaved off the beginning of MP3s if you have set your Windows Media Player 12 settings to
retrieve information from the internet and update files. The default configuration for WMP12 sets this if you use the "express" option during setup.
"The problem only happens when you edit metadata on a certain class of MP3 file (a file with a header larger than 16KB).

Redmond is still running low on Joe the plumbers as another Windows 7 leak surfaces today. This time around it's the second RTM branch build to
leak, 7127. Approximately a month after 7106 leaked. The build string is 7127.0.090507-1820 meaning it was compiled just over a week ago so it's
still fresh off the blocks. Microsoft is progressing steadily with the RTM branch and company insiders have indicated the software giant is well on
target to finalise the RTM build over the summer. Our guess? Late June or early July. Microsoft is expected to announce general availability of
Windows 7 for before the Christmas period, cashing in on holiday PC purchasers.

"Oops!"
A build being demoed at WinHEC China this week, build 6956, was leaked by a show attendee, but in an unusual fashion, taking
advantage of a new feature in Windows 7.
The attendee managed to clone the demo machine's hard drive into a VHD file, a virtual hard
drive format that is fully supported in Windows 7. He then moved the image onto his portable drive and walked away from the booth, never caught by
any Microsoft employee or security.
Since Microsoft will probably not use a GPO to disable VHD creation on demo machines (it is a new
feature, after all), it will be interesting to see if future builds are leaked in the same routine. It's surprising that copying files to removable
disks wasn't disabled on these machines as the ones at PDC were.

Windows 7, as per usual, this time in build 7106 flavor, both x86 and x64 variations. This is confirmed, by various Neowin members and other
trustworthy sources. The screenshot of the build isn't, as you can see, in English but there are apparently English versions that have been

Potential Windows 7 box art leaked earlier this week from Polish site Centrumxp. Originally many speculated that these images were fake but blogger
Long Zheng has unearthed Microsoft using the same logo on the box art, elsewhere. Microsoft has created a Windows Lounge site for internal employees
to join a Facebook group for information, training and marketing for Windows 7. The group uses the following image for its logo: Compared to the
box art that was leaked it's too similar. It appears as though this could be concept or final box art for the Windows 7 packaging. Microsoft
officials have said "off the record" that Windows 7 will RTM in the Summer and be available for the Fall.

Screenshots have surfaced of the suspected Google Chrome OS, without any reliable source or confirmation to back up the claims. The six leaked screen
shots show what could possibly be the very first screenshots of the new developer's beta operating system. The beta is labeled 0.1.15 in one of
the screenshots, showing the early stages of the operating system. If proven real, the screenshots indicate a Mac OS X spin on things from Google,
showing a dock in the screenshot, rather than having a taskbar like Microsoft Windows does.

A few hours ago Gizmodo received an entire PowerPoint presentation revealing the possible layout and concepts of Microsoft's upcoming retail
stores. While the documents are fairly old, according to our own sources, the final design for the stores has not yet been finalized. After taking
a look at the document, it appears that Microsoft is going to be focusing on Windows 7, Xbox, Windows Media Center (Including Surface) and Windows
Mobile. It can be assumed that looking through the slides that there is going to be a massive digital media wall that wraps around the entire store.

Take the following news with your daily dose of salt. Ars Technica had originally reported today that they have the pricing structure for Windows 7,
but later pulled the story, then reposted again stating that it was from an anonymous source and "not one of our usual, trusted tipsters." Keep
in mind that Microsoft has not announced any pricing for its Windows 7 products, when we asked Microsoft about the Ars story, they told us "final
decisions are still being made on details like pricing. We will be in touch when we have more to share." The prices Ars is now reporting again,

Microsoft are currently working hard towards the Release Candidate of Windows 7. Currently the only official build available to testers and the
general public is build 7000 but we have learned that 7022 has leaked to the internet today. According to a Russian torrent site it was leaked by
"friendly" Microsoft Ukraine individuals. It's not likely that the build contains any of the UAC changes Microsoft has recently promised. The
build is Build 7022.winmain.090115-1850 which indicates it was built nearly a month ago. Some Microsoft employees have twittered recently that they
were "installing build 7034" so the company is clearly pushing ahead with the builds ready for the upcoming Release Candidate.

A new video of the Microsoft Courier (name not finalized) has been leaked onto the Internet, demonstrating in the video just how users will actually
use the device. The video didn't show any keyboard but the tablet device will be used through various swipes, flicks and pinches to navigate
pages. It's hard to tell exactly the way the device works from the video, but there appears to be a physical home button in the middle of the
tablet that brings the user to a home page or the last page viewed. The center of the tablet seems to act as a clipboard for images that allows you
to navigate the device to transfer the images to another page.

Earlier today Neowin reported that Windows 7 build 7232 had leaked. What a difference a few more hours makes, now 7260 has leaked and the Russian site
Wzor claims that Microsoft will build the RTM (release to manufacturing) build between June 15-19. If Wzor is correct, and that's a big if and
rumour, then we may see the final Windows 7 RTM build ready this weekend. Internal sources indicate that 7260 is still the latest build under the
win7_rtm branch. Build 7260 carries the tag 7260.win7_rtm.090612-2110 and is an RTM escrow build meaning vigorous testing will commence to ensure this
is the final code unless there are show stopper bugs.
