Localization be damned, since Microsoft has decided to release a special edition of Windows XP only in Japan to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the first Windows. Finding details about what has changed versus previous XPs is difficult (probably because nothing changed), but we do know that it will feature a special ?20th anniversary edition? desktop theme. Err, does that even count?

Microsoft is 30 years old today! have a look at the Microsoft Timeline
It's hard to believe that Microsoft is already 30 years old. The company that made Redmond, Washington, a household name was actually founded in 1975 in another city by two young Seattle men, one of whom was a college dropout. From this inauspicious beginning came an equally improbable vision: A personal computer on every desk and in every home. Thirty years later, it seems so obvious. But at the time, when only a handful of people knew what a personal computer was, it was a great leap of faith and daring.

19.12.2008Happy 20th birthday to the World Wide Web

The purposed idea was to help connect people together using the World Wide Web using the once popular ViolaWWW web browser, which was eventually
replaced by Mosaic web browser back in 1993. Tim Berners-Lee was the man behind "Information Management: A Proposal" leading the way for what we
now consider the Internet. In a quote from Tim Berners-Lee said: "We should work toward a universal linked information system, in which generality
and portability are more important than fancy graphics techniques and complex extra facilities.

A Dell-commisioned survey has found that about 60 percent of solution providers are afraid that Dell would compete for resellers' customers, a key
hurdle the company must overcome as it tries to court the channel and grow its indirect sales.
In
an item posted on Dell's corporate blog, Direct2Dell,
Chris Bates, director of the company's Solution Provider Direct organization, said the company ordered the survey as it works behind-the-scenes to
create its first, end-to-end channel program.
"According to a Bain survey recently commissioned by Dell, it's not surprising
that about 60 percent of solution providers surveyed have concerns about Dell's direct hardware business competing with their sale or resale of
hardware to customers," Bates said. "Deal Registration will reduce this conflict and hopefully increase solution providers' trust in Dell." ..

21.09.2006OneCare Was Not a Failure, Microsoft Exec Says
Critics asserting that Windows Live OneCare didn't succeed on its own have got it wrong, according to Microsoft's chief security advisor for
the EMEA region. Roger Halbheer, in a blog posting on Monday, said it was "nonsense" for anyone to suggest that Microsoft's consumer
antimalware security solution had somehow "failed." Last month, Microsoft announced that it planned to discontinue OneCare while simultaneously
saying it would offer a free anti malware solution code-named "Morro." OneCare is priced at $49.95 per year, but Halbheer noted that many people
just cannot afford the extra amount, especially in newer and arguably poorer markets.
