Is Google going to make Microsoft look good?
Why do we like Google? Is it because they are the “do no evil” company? Is it because they are not Microsoft? Is it because they make our lives easier through their search, email, and other services? The fact of the matter is that a lot of people from users, to developers, to workers, and to investors like Google. Heck, even I like google! (Look at the ads.)

06.02.2009Windows 7 On Track For 2010 Release
That's the year we'll make contact, and not before.
Chris Flores, the head of Microsoft Featured Communities confirmed to Neowin by
stating "As most of you are well aware, there has been quite a bit of recent speculation about Win7. While I am not at liberty to discuss the details
of Win7 (yet) I do want to set the record straight that we are still shooting for 2010 - 3 years from the launch of Vista."
Bearing in
mind that 2010 is just a little under a year and a half away, it's unreasonable to think that something would be released in between; however we
can speculate that SP2 for Windows Vista will come before then and may introduce some new features making the upgrade from XP worthwhile. Pure
speculation of course!

05.11.2008What to expect from Microsoft in 2008
Steve at Bink.nu asked me to post his "
What to expect
from Microsoft in 2008" list, so here goes!
The famous Bink.nu "expect list" is back! Just as previous years, I made a list of what
releases we can expect from Microsoft. 2005 and 2006 turned out to be pretty accurate, the only things wrong weren't my mistakes but delays or
change of plans. Last year I also started to make a list for 2007, because it is a lot of work I never managed to get it done and it never got
published. To avoid that I publish what I have now and add stuff over the coming weeks, also based on your feedback!
If you think something
is missing or wrong please let me know through a comment or sending an email to bink at bink nu. This list is based on facts, assumptions and wild
guesses. Again it is not complete yet and will be updated by your feedback!

21.02.2009Power isn't everything; Green500 offers new supercomputer list
The most energy-efficient supercomputer on the new Green500 List isn't the top machine on the biannual listing of the most powerful supercomputers in
the world -- not by a long shot.
IBM's BlueGene/P system, which is running at the Daresbury Laboratory of the Science and
Technology Facilities Council, came out on top of the first official ranking of the Green500.
The Daresbury Laboratory is one of seven national research councils in
the U.K. The supercomputer, though a major player on the new green list, is ranked a middling 121 on the latest
Top500 List, which was released Nov. 11 at SCO7, a supercomputing conference in Reno, Nev.
The
Green500 List ranks the machines that make the Top500 List by
their energy efficiency. The Top500 List ranks the top supercomputers on the planet based on performance.

22.12.2008Microsoft gets an earful on what users want in future Windows releases
In December 2006, Microsoft
requested feedback from a
select group of invitees
regarding what they would like
to see fixed, changed and/or
added to future Windows
builds. The Windows team got
an earful: Nearly 800 new
feature requests, another
560-plus change requests and
almost 400 defects.
That list has been
winnowed down to about 70 of
the most popular requests and
posted the week of July 9 to
Microsofts Connect beta site.
This isnt the
official Windows Seven or
Windows Eight feature list.
But the list does indicate
some of the features that
testers are the most
interested in seeing make it
