18.4.2006Office 2010 Has Leaked!

Microsoft Office 2010 (x86)

Microsoft Office 2010 (x64)
The x64

up to 1000kbps during our download of the x86 version, so the torrent is going strong... That is, until the rest of the world picks up on it...

16.05.2009Critical F-Secure Update
released
Finnish antivirus company
F-Secure Corp. warned users
today to install an update to
fix a serious flaw in many of
its products that it said
attackers could use to seize
control over computers running
the
software.
F-Sec
ure said the problem has to do
with the way its products
examine compressed ZIP or RAR
archive files. People often
send files compressed with ZIP
or RAR utilities as e-mail
attachments because they can
radically reduce the
attachment file
size.
Unfortunately
, virus and worm writers also
often send their creations
inside ZIP or RAR files to
make it past e-mail security
scans, which usually filter
out executable files but often
allow compressed files,
leaving the inspection of
those files to antivirus
products once the user opens
the compressed
archive.
According
to F-Secure, attackers could
use the flaw to create a file
that cannot be scanned
properly, potentially allowing
the malicious file to slip
past the company's antivirus
scanners...

20.01.2006WinZip 11.0 Released
WinZip 11.0 includes features
that build on the solid
foundation established with
WinZip 10.0. We applied user
feedback to help improve the
Job Wizard, and added a number
of compression and usability
enhancements, as well as the
ability to open .BZ2 and .RAR
files.
Like WinZip
10.0, you can select WinZip
11.0 with Standard or Pro
features, and both offer
compression enhancements that
make WinZip 11.0 the most
versatile WinZip ever. Our new
"best compression" option
allows you to let WinZip
decide the best compression
method for each file based on
the file type. This will
ensure that you maximize the
compression of every file that
you add to your Zip file.
WinZip 11.0 also allows you to
better zip .wav music files
without compromising the
integrity of the file or its
sound quality. What's more,
if you need to open a .BZ2 or
.RAR file, WinZip can now be
your tool of choice.
If you depend on WinZip
Pro's Job Wizard to back up
data sets, archive important
documents, or distribute
information to others on a
regular basis, you'll
appreciate the enhancements
available in WinZip 11.0 Pro.
Now you can configure the Job
Wizard to email the log file
and/or resulting Zip file
automatically after
completion, use our new
"browse" feature to find a
specific folder on an FTP
server, and select custom jobs
directly from the Job Wizard
and Quick Pick menus.

As with Windows Vista, the newest version of Windows brings with it a newer version of Microsoft's DirectX. Windows 7 was released with Direct X
11 support, and it was initially thought that Direct X 11 support would remain a 7-only technology. Reports indicate that a platform update is being

includes Crysis 2 and The Lord of the Rings Online, Vista users will be happy to know that they can go out and purchase a Radeon 5870 and use it to

03.11.2009DirectX 11 to get announced this month
Microsoft will start talking about DirectX 11 in less than two weeks. Sources have confirmed that Microsoft game technology conference, previously
known as Meltdown and now renamed to Gamefest 2008, will be the place where Microsoft plans to officially announce DirectX 11.
This
conference takes place on the 22 and 23 July in Seattle, Washington and it will set you back $550 if you register online. You can find some more
details about the conference here.
The big feature of DirectX 11 is Tessellation/Displacement while we also heard that Multithreaded
Rendering and Compute Shaders are part of it. DirectX 11 also brings Shader model 5.0 but we dont know many details about it.
It looks
like DirectX 11 will stick to rasterization as there is no any mentioning of Ray tracing support.
Nvidia will also talk about DirectX 11
at its Nvision event / conference in late August 2008

10.07.2008Ubuntu 8.04 vs. Windows XP: Application Performance Benchmark
Several open source applications are available on both Linux as well as Windows. This gave Mohammed Saleh the idea of
comparing the performance of
various of these applications on both Ubuntu 8.04 as well as Windows XP SP3, to see which of the two performed better with certain applications.
The results were rather interesting.
The tests he performed could be more or less grouped into multimedia related tests (Blender,
Avidemux, etc.) and hard disk performance tests (the command line RAR utility and ClamAV). The results seem to indicate that Windows XP beats Ubuntu
hands-down when it comes to multimedia related applications, and Ubuntu has the advantage in IO intensive applications.

have major speed improvements, boasting a 20 second startup, as well as overall speed improvements as ext4 is now used as the default file-system.
Another interesting feature is the ability to perform a minimal install, which amounts to about 500MB (at mount-point '/'), which should make

17.12.2007Nvidia: DirectX 11 is not important
Nvidia's Sr. Vice President, Investor Relations, Mike Hara, has played down the significance of DirectX 11 at the Deutsche Bank Securities Technology
Conference. Instead, Mr. Hara insists technologies like CUDA, PhysX and Stereo 3D Vision are the future.
DirectX 11 by itself is
not going be the defining reason to buy a new GPU. It will be one of the reasons. This is why Microsoft is in work with the industry to allow more
freedom and more creativity in how you build content, which is always good, and the new features in DirectX 11 are going to allow people to do that.
But that no longer is the only reason, we believe, consumers would want to invest in a GPU, explains Mr. Hara.
