interested in what’s going on in terms of new integration across services. Its now been 9 months since the launch of Messenger 8.5, Mail and
Photo Gallery as part of Wave 2, but as this is only a first milestone, there’ll be other internal updates before a version gets released to the
public. That said, there’s still some positive signs that the eventual Messenger v9 release is going to be good.

06.10.2008Microsoft sends out Windows Live Messenger 9.0 beta invites
No sooner has the Windows Live Wave 2 suite been released than the first Wave 3 beta begins - Windows Live Messenger v9. Unlike the betas that have
just finished, the Messenger v9 beta is being run from Microsoft Connect as a private beta, meaning that, for the moment at least,
unless you receive an invite, you won't be able to
participate.
For the moment it looks like most previous Windows Live testers are getting invites, so stay tuned to your inbox.
With such a popular beta like this, you better sign up quick.
So what's new? While the goodies aren't yet available, we've
heard about Multiple Points Of Presence (MPOP) support, which allows you to signin from multiple devices, ie be online at two places at once.

17.09.2008Features and screenshots of the new Windows Live Messenger v9
Mess.be: A few days ago we obtained the latest installer for Windows Live Messenger, version "2009". We were asked to keep it quiet for now, but of
course we couldn't contain our excitement and had to let all messers out there know about the new stuff. The most noticeable is of course the new
look, with colors and headers resembling the new Windows Live header that has been
discussed by Liveside
before. On top of that, it looks like all the various dialogs are now also properly styled like Windows Live Messenger, rather than having the
"old" Windows look. Here, why don't you have a look for yourself...

12.08.2008Windows Live Messenger 9 to have WPF effects
You may have
already
heard that, along with the rest of Windows Live wave 3, the next version of Windows Live Messenger (version 9.0) will have a new user
interface.
After being tipped off by an unaffiliated yet trustworthy source who – naturally – doesn't want to be
identified, Messenger Stuff can now reveal that the new interface will use the graphics effects available through
WPF , where
supported.
To put it simply, this finally means that we will see transparency effects in the various windows of the program,
possibly similar to those already seen in Yahoo! Messenger for Vista. We are
led to believe that the actual design has not changed much but the WPF effects have been integrated well in what is bound to be a popular new
addition.

Windows Live Messenger 9 Beta Invitations Sent
The betas just keep rolling. With Windows Live Wave 2 out, Wave 3 is now starting up. Several users have reported that invitations for the upcoming
Windows Live Messenger 9 Beta program have been sent out.
The email states that they are "running a small private beta to get
early feedback on the new features". No other details have been provided as of yet.
Keep an eye on our forums and front page
though, we will be providing as much information as possible about the beta as it becomes available.
Ah, the good old days of

Windows Live Web Messenger Hits Dogfood Stage
We've gone from MSN Messenger 7.5 to Windows Live Messenger 8.5 in just over a year, but it's been a long while since we've seen any updates to the
popular web client, MSN Web Messenger.
Yesterday however, we finally received a glimmer of light into the seemingly fading
messenger, after the new Windows Live Web Messenger hit the dogfood stage for internal testing by Microsoft Employees.
The
client, seen here, appears to be sporting the new
Windows Live Wave 2.0 UI as well as the much awaited "tabbed" conversations.
Unfortunately, there is no word yet on when we may
see a beta version of the web client. However, if you would like to get some early suggestions in, feel free to post them on the Facebook Group the team created for the general public.

Windows Live Messenger celebrates 10 years, hits 330m users
On July 22, 1999 Microsoft launched what would become the world's most popular instant messenging service, currently with over 330 active users
every month. Previously named MSN Messenger, it was released to work on the Windows operating system platform for users to instantly chat over the
Internet using Microsoft's .NET Messenger Service. Microsoft later re-branded MSN Messenger into Windows Live Messenger to merge it with its
other Live services back in December 13, 2005. Windows Live Messenger (WLM) has gone through significant protocol changes and face lifts over its
many versions in the last 10 years, ending up at Windows Live Messenger 2009 (designated to be called 9.0).
