iPhone 3GS satisfaction rate at 99 percent

Apple's not been too great in the eyes of the public, as of late. Many (still, and fairly) have complaints about their App Store, due to the approval process, and many U.S. iPhone users have complaints about missing features (such as Tethering and MMS). With all this complaining, it would be safe to assume that consumers aren't too pleased with their purchases; alas, AppleInsider is reporting that it's quite the opposite... the most recent product of the company, the iPhone 3GS, has a fairly impressive 99% success rate (of those that were surveyed). The report came from RBC Capital Markets, and shows the most liked (and disliked) features of the phone.

Quanta confirms second-gen iPhone contract

Apple selected Taiwanese electronics manufacturing giant Foxconn to manufacture the first batch of its iPhones, but a report by iTWire suggests a second iPhone manufactured by Quanta will follow shortly afterward. The first iPhone is scheduled to come out some time next month, most likely in the aftermath of Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference in mid-June.

Speculation regarding a second-gen, Quanta-built iPhone was sparked by a Commercial Times report earlier today, and Quanta addressed the rumors head-on with an official statement confirming its contract with Apple.

"Quanta not only manufactures and iPod for Apple, but also may have receive the order to make the second generation of the Apple iPhone. iPhone is a smartphone based mobile, and the second generation model shipment is expected in September 2007 with forecast of 5 million units in 2008," the company stated...

T-Mobile will sell unlocked iPhone in Germany

T-Mobile said Wednesday that it will sell the iPhone in Germany without a contract, complying with a court injunction against it. In addition, it will unlock any phone bought since November 19 -- the date of the ruling -- at no charge, so that the device can be used with other carriers. However, the company has asked the courts to clarify the injunction so it may change its offer to consumers based upon that.

Consumers will gain the option to purchase the device without the two year contract for €999, or about $1,478 USD. In all cases, contract or not, T-Mobile will unlock any iPhone purchased after the ruling. The process is apparently different in Germany than it is here in the US. American consumers may purchase the iPhone sans contract for a flat price of $399, whereas in Germany, consumers are apparently forced to purchase the contract first and the phone second.
