PC 2004 on Windows Vista knows
that the experience can leave
something to be desired. But
today, from the hard working
folks on the Virtual PC Team,
we have Virtual PC 2007.

system, allowing you to run
multiple operating systems on
a single PC and have an
excellent experience doing so.
Virtual PC 2007 has also been
optimized for Windows Vista
running as the guest operating
system as well.
Virtual PC 2007 is both free

winbeta.org - 26.02.2008Install Windows Vista from a high speed USB 2.0 Flash Drive
Why would someone want to
install a client OS from a
thumb drive instead of a
DVDROM or over the network?
One reason: Performance.
Installing Windows
Vista from a high speed USB
flash drive is in my
experience the easiest &
fastest way to complete a
Windows Vista install. This is
much faster than using a DVD,
gigabit ethernet, or possibly
even some external USB 2.0
hard drives, due to
differences in access speed &
transfer rate. To put this
into perspective, y'know how
installing Windows on a
Virtual PC virtual machine
from an .ISO CD image is
really, really, really fast?
Imagine something
roughly just as fast, except
for doing installations of the
OS on to actual
workstations.

betanews.com - 20.02.2007How To: Get Windows 7 Aero in a Virtual Machine
This week, Microsoft made the XP Mode RC available to Windows 7 Professional, Enterprise and Ultimate users. Most Virtual Machine emulating software
has not offered support for Aero previously, including Microsoft's own Virtual PC 2007. Now, thanks to the powerful set of "Integration
Components" in Windows 7 Virtual PC and the enhanced, updated version of Remote Desktop in 7, we can now have the full Aero Glass experience in
Windows 7 Virtual Machines, provided the host can handle Aero, and has it enabled. Here's how to get it: This assumes you already have Windows
7 installed on your PC in Virtual PC. Step 1: Enable Aero on your host machine.

betanews.com - 18.05.2007Why installing Vista SP1 might fail via Windows Update
When you try to install Windows Vista SP1 via Windows Update you can get error: Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is not available for installation from
Windows Update and is not offered by Automatic Updates.
To help ensure a positive update experience, Windows Update will temporarily not
offer Windows Vista SP1 to systems that have the following device drivers. In some cases, these device drivers are problematic on Windows Vista-based
computers when you update to Windows Vista SP1. By installing updated device drivers, you will resolve the issue and enable Windows Update to offer
Windows Vista SP1.

Don't expect huge UI changes after installing SP1

betanews.com - 08.08.2006Hyper-V and slow guest OS installation
Ben Armstrong: I have seen a number of reviews and comments about the fact that while Hyper-V virtual machines appear to be quite fast once they are
up and running - operating system installation seems to take quite a while. The reason for this is relatively easy to explain.
With Virtual Server and Virtual PC we only had emulated devices to use - and as a result we spent a lot of time optimizing and tweaking the
performance of these emulated devices. When we implemented the emulated devices under Hyper-V we had to remove many of these optimizations due to the
entirely different architecture of Hyper-V. We did not, however, spend much time re-optimizing the emulated devices on Hyper-V because we had the new
synthetic device architecture where we have focused our attention for performance tuning.
This means that Hyper-V emulated
devices are slower than Virtual Server / Virtual PC emulated devices - but Hyper-V synthetic devices are much faster than Virtual Server / Virtual PC
emulated devices.
winbeta.org - 27.02.2008Vista Running on Eee PC
Asus Eee PC is, as expected, getting hacked every which way, and Brit Paul O'Brien has managed to squeeze the bloated Windows Vista onto the little Linux laptop. Using vLite, a tool to customize a Vista install before actually installing it, Paul shrunk
Vista Home Premium and put the custom disk image onto a USB stick.
He then booted the Eee from the thumb drive, installed and “ here's the clever bit “ shifted the
gigabyte-gobbling Side by Side (SxS) directory off the main drive and onto an 8GB SD card.
