Windows 7 Beta 1 6.1.7000.0 - 7000.0.081212-1400 Screenshot and ISO Details
Looks like the rumor that Windows 7 Beta 1 will have build version of 7000 has some truth in it, or at least the build version 6.1.7000.0 of Windows 7 does exist. Microsoft has silently made available download of Windows 7 Beta 1 DVD ISO image to selected people, independent of the Windows 7 beta participation invite.

Microsoft's Big Bet: Win Within the Web
Although the latest version of Microsoft Windows is more than six months from shipping, company brass already have christened Vista as the best and biggest Windows release since Windows 95.
The company is making bold predictions, claiming Vista will be preloaded on as many as 200 million new personal computers in the first 24 months that the product is available. Windows 95 shipped on a mere 67 million new PCs during its first two years. These numbers are important. The prospects of nearly every product Microsoft makes ride on maintaining the ubiquity of Windows, which has in excess of 90 percent of the PC operating system market. It's been five years since the current Windows version was released, and Windows XP now is looking rather dated.

11.02.2009Mozilla won't fix 80% of Firefox 3.0's bugs
Mozilla Corp. will fix just 20% of the bugs now in Firefox 3.0 before the final version is released next year, the open-source developer's Web site
revealed yesterday.
As Mozilla pushes to post Beta 1 of Firefox 3.0, it has asked developers to prioritize already-identified
bugs so that the most important can be fixed. But according to notes of yesterday's
Firefox 3.0 status meeting, that will leave about eight in
10 bugs untouched.
"We have 700 bugs currently marked as blockers," the notes read. "That's too many. We're asking
component owners to set priorities on blockers, as a first pass of what bugs should be Beta 2 blockers. You want it to be about 10% of
blockers, or what you can get done in four weeks."
Mozilla usually refers to a bug as a "blocker" when the flaw is serious
enough to justify postponing a release.

Windows 7 build 7022 leaks
Microsoft are currently working hard towards the Release Candidate of Windows 7. Currently the only official build available to testers and the
general public is build 7000 but we have learned that 7022 has leaked to the internet today. According to a Russian torrent site it was leaked by
"friendly" Microsoft Ukraine individuals. It's not likely that the build contains any of the UAC changes Microsoft has recently promised. The
build is Build 7022.winmain.090115-1850 which indicates it was built nearly a month ago. Some Microsoft employees have twittered recently that they
were "installing build 7034" so the company is clearly pushing ahead with the builds ready for the upcoming Release Candidate.

Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO, is set to announce at CES that Windows 7 will see its public debut on Friday 9th January. Microsoft is currently

and Windows 7 availability all day in one of our more popular forum threads. According to sources close to Microsoft, the company is significantly
further on from build 7000 and it's understood that the development has branched from 7003 onwards ready for the RC/RTM stages.

Windows 7 build 7077 leaks
According to several reports from Neowin members, Windows 7 build 7077 has leaked to various torrent sites. Named as an RC escrow build it's
likely that 7077.0.090404-1255 is the RC that will be modified to 7100 and distributed widely in May. Microsoft confirmed the 7100 path yesterday on
its Engineering Windows 7 blog by advising users to modify the MinClient build number from 7100 to 7000 in order to enable beta to RC upgrades. It is
now expected that Microsoft will name 7100 as the RC build and builds 7105 onwards will be the ongoing development branched towards RTM.

Mozilla Rushes to Fix Regression Bugs in Firefox
Mozilla Corp. will rush another version of Firefox to users as early as next week, the company's user interface designer said Tuesday, to fix five

Firefox 2.0.0.8 patched ten vulnerabilities, including three critical
flaws, but also shipped with five regression bugs -- problems unintentionally introduced when code was changed to plug other holes.
"Most users won't see any difference or experience any problems," said Mike Beltzner of Mozilla in a posting to the company's development
center blog. "We're working fast to understand and fix these problems, and will shortly be issuing a 2.0.0.9 update to address them."

Apple has released another build of the upcoming 10.5.7 operating system, which builds on the existing Leopard iteration, to developers and many

extremely frequent builds that only fix one or two issues at a time. This is a sign they're just hunting and killing minor bugs as they find them,
and that development is closing up.

Windows 7 beta receiving test updates on Feb. 24th
As various Windows blogs are reporting, Microsoft is issuing some test updates for the official Windows 7 Beta (that's build 7000) this month, on

they wish to download them. The updates serve no purpose except for testing, and this will be clearly labeled that they are for testing purposes only.

Ever wonder what it takes to release products at Microsoft?
Bruce Evans, a Build Engineer
at Microsoft gives us some
insight into how software gets
built at Microsoft:
Like any company,
Microsoft balances shipping
products that people want, and
ensuring there are very few
bugs. Everyone knows the
longer you test a product,
ideally the fewer bugs are in
it when it ships. On the other
hand, the longer you test, the
less chance you get to make
the window of opportunity!
First of all,
products are built every day.
Microsoft builds śfrom-sourceť
using timestamps in the source
control system to ensure they
can re-build a product, in a
known way. Products are not
only compiled and linked, they
are built several ways:
release-quality,
debug-quality, code-coverage,
and up to 6 different ways to
inform developers and testers
that the code being shipped is
of reasonable quality, and
meets the legal requirements
set by Microsoft.
Additionally, each day
localized versions of the
product have to be produced,
and frequently each build is
run through a set of Build
Verification Tests (automated
tests to inform the team that
the build made the śfirst cutť
or not)...

Netherlands employee Ruud de Jonge twittered "Installing Win 7 build 7201" a few moments ago to confirm the builds authenticity. Microsoft revealed

Microsoft to RTM Windows 7 this week? Build 7260 leaks
Earlier today Neowin reported that Windows 7 build 7232 had leaked. What a difference a few more hours makes, now 7260 has leaked and the Russian site
Wzor claims that Microsoft will build the RTM (release to manufacturing) build between June 15-19. If Wzor is correct, and that's a big if and
rumour, then we may see the final Windows 7 RTM build ready this weekend. Internal sources indicate that 7260 is still the latest build under the
win7_rtm branch. Build 7260 carries the tag 7260.win7_rtm.090612-2110 and is an RTM escrow build meaning vigorous testing will commence to ensure this
is the final code unless there are show stopper bugs.
