07.01.2009Windows XP SP3 Update Breaks Windows Home Server Remote Access
Windows Home Server users are

Following the update, attempting to access those home computers via Windows Home Servers Remote Access features brings up a dialog asking the user

PCs.
The issue arises due to security changes in XP SP3 - namely, that the Terminal Services ActiveX control in Internet Explorer
is disabled by default.

13.02.2009Yahoo readying free POP3 access?
Now that Windows Live Mail has joined the rest of the crew, most of major free email services available offer free POP3 access along with their

POP3 and forwarding options. This may, finally, be changing. Users that log into the Yahoo! Mail web interface, proceed to the mail options, and
attempt to view the options for POP3 will be presented with the following page: While this is purely speculative, it could signal that Yahoo! is
preparing to grant all of their Mail users access to POP3 and forwarding for free.

21.08.2009Configuring Windows Server 2008 as a Remote Access SSL VPN Server (Part 1)
Remote Access is one of todays big things. As an increasing number of people need access to information stored on work and home computers, the
ability to access that information from anywhere is critical. Gone are the days when you could say Ill get that information to you when I get to my
computer. You need that information now if you want to be competitive in todays business environment.
In the stone age of
computing, the way to remotely access information on your computer was to use a dial-up connection. RAS dial-up connections worked over regular POTS
(Plain Old Telephone Service) lines and had speeds that ranged up to around 56kbps. Speed was a major problem with dial-up RAS connections, but an
even bigger problem was the cost of the connections when a long distance number was required for access.
