Gmail overtakes AOL, becomes third largest email provider

According to ComScore, a marketing research company, Gmail is now the third largest email provider in the United States. Storage was measured in gigs and you seemingly could store unlimited amounts of emails. The Gmail launch also started a frenzy of trying to acquire an invite to the service. It was a clever but very effective technique by Google to give out invites to users who would then get 10 more invites and so on which caused people to start selling them on Ebay.
