Is it game over for Windows Vista?
The saviour that was meant to be, Vista Service Pack 1, isn’t. In some cases it’s actually a performance decrease for an operating system already grinding up-to-date PCs to a halt.

Game over
Google's Name Game
Backlash and confusion have dogged Google's plans to scan millions of books, and, while continuing with its efforts, it has opted for a name change from Google Print to Google Book Search.
"We don't think that this new name will change what some folks think about this program," says Jen Grant, product marketing manager for Google, via the company's Web site. "But we do believe it will help a lot of people understand better what we're doing."

22.06.2007XNA Framework Networking and LIVE Requirements
Michael Klucher: One of the biggest features in the upcoming release of XNA Game Studio is the ability to create networked games over Xbox LIVE and
Games for Windows® - LIVE. We thought we'd take some time to explain what you can do and what you need to do it. Before we dive into exactly what
you can do with networking, let's define a couple of commonly used terms:
- System Link: This form of networking uses your local
subnet to find and join other game sessions and can use local profiles (not Xbox LIVE gamertags) to accomplish this.
- Xbox LIVE/Games for
Windows - LIVE: This form of networking uses Xbox LIVE matchmaking to find and join other game sessions and uses your Xbox LIVE gamertag to accomplish
this.
Let's take a look at the common things you might want to do...

Yaris. Yes, Yaris is the name of a new car from Toyota. Yes, the
game is a promotional tool for the vehicle. But hello, it's free. And for that price, it's not half-bad. The game is a racing action game where you
drive your Yaris (of course) up walls, through tubes, and upside-down while shooting at obstacles & enemies. You're also collecting coins so you can
buy better weapons and upgrade your ride with better shielding and vehicle types. The game has 3 car models, 8 tracks, achievements, and you can play
online with your friends on Xbox LIVE. Not bad for a freebie.

19.12.2008XNA Game Studio 2.0 Supports Xbox LIVE
The new version builds upon XNA Game Studio Express, released one year ago, and includes the ability to create online, cross-platform multiplayer
games for Xbox 360 and Windows using Xbox LIVE® and Games for Windows - LIVE, respectively. XNA Game Studio 2.0 adds more than 15 new features.
"When building XNA Game Studio 2.0, we wanted to offer everyone the opportunity to utilize the rich gaming environment of LIVE
used by AAA developers for titles such as Halo® 3 and Gears of War®," said Chris Satchell, general manager of the XNA organization at Microsoft.
"We accomplished our goal with this new toolset, and, best of all, it remains highly accessible to students, hobbyists and pros alike."
Many of LIVE's best features are supported by XNA Game Studio 2.0 with minimal to no coding necessary to activate them—features like
matchmaking, which uses LIVE to find the best games for you to play based on your location and internet connection. Additionally, XNA Game Studio 2.0
fully supports game development with all versions of the Microsoft Visual Studio product line.

13.11.2008XNA Game Studio 2.0 Beta Ending Soon
Michael Klucher: This Friday, December 7th, will be your final chance to download the beta of XNA Game Studio 2.0. We are ending the beta program in
preparation for our final release.
Additionally, the Games for Windows - LIVE online functionality will become disabled. You will
still be able to use XNA Game Studio 2.0 Beta to program System Link games, but you will not be able to log on by using a LIVE-enabled Gamertag.
As we have mentioned, the delta between the beta and the release was very short. During that period, we addressed many bugs and
issues, but the beta you received was "feature complete," meaning that everything new for XNA Game Studio 2.0 was included with the beta.
Our final release is right around the corner, and we'd like to thank everyone who took time to download our beta as well as provide
feedback through the Microsoft Connect site. It's with your help that we can ensure that our final build is as stable as possible.

professional development teams since August to realize their visions.
