One of the many fan-inspired features to make it into FM 2006 will be that, for the first time, managers will be able to negotiate with their board of directors - not only for a better contract for themselves, but also for improved player wage budgets and increased transfer budgets or even stadium expansion.

AMD's Hector Ruiz To Trade Processors for Pigskins?

On Monday September 10th the day of the big AMD launch event in San Francisco I had the pleasure to speak briefly with Hector Ruiz at a little event AMD put together before the launch; it was a great chance for me to find out more about him, and tell you guys about him.

I wasn't expecting him to be there and wasn't told he would be there until about 10 minutes after I arrived, so I was a bit unprepared and a little nervous, but when he arrived and was done shaking everyone's hand I saw him standing alone by the Window and I took the initiative and started to talk to him, the first thing that came to my mind was Football.

Why Football? Because in a little bio I put together on him a month ago, I learned he loves Football and would love to be a college football coach. Here is where the title for this post comes in, he said if he was ever offered the chance to coach a college football team he would leave AMD. Especially if it was the Texas Longhorns, the room busted into laughter as Hector added no college would ever offer him that type of position. (I see a lot of Oklahoma Fans who love AMD switching to Intel now.)

America to crack down on blogger payola

US regulators are to crack down on bloggers who fail to disclose money or gifts received from companies when reviewing their products. In the new policy from the Federal Trade Commission, offending bloggers could eventually face fines of up to $11,000 (£6,900) per violation, according to the BBC. So-called payola schemes have increased in recent years, with marketers realising the potential of encouraging bloggers and forum contributors to produce reviews or testimonials on their products in exchange for money of freebies. Although the guidelines released by the FTC are not binding by law, they are interpretations of the law that hope to help advertisers comply with regulations, such as those on disclosing endorsements.

Even with Vista SP1, Hackers Still Crack WGA

The fact that Microsoft has relaxed its antipiracy mechanism built into Windows Vista concomitantly with the release of Service Pack 1 failed to stop hackers from providing a crack for the latest version of Windows Genuine Advantage Validation. Various reports point out that Genuine Advantage Validation and Notifications versions 1.7.69.1 (1.7.0069.1) and 1.7.69.2 released in March 2008, following the March 18 availability of Windows Vista SP1 through Windows Update and the Microsoft Download Center, have been cracked.

The workaround is designed to be integrated with pirated copies of Windows XP and Windows Vista in order to render useless the WGA Validation mechanism. According to the reports, applying the WGA crack will permit users of counterfeit versions of Windows to access and download items from Windows Update, Microsoft Download Center and Microsoft Update. The pirated operating systems with the cracked WGA will pass all validations on Microsoft's websites and offer anything from updates to applications that are restricted to users of genuine operating systems only.

Liverpool FC fans duped by phishing scam

You've won £500,000 in a special lottery! Simply give us your bank details!

Security experts are warning of a phishing scam claiming to be a lottery run by Liverpool Football Club. The emails were spammed out over the weekend informing recipients that they have won £500,000 in a special lottery organised by the club to celebrate having £20m left over at the end of the season.

"This email scam campaign is using the name of one of the world's greatest football clubs in an attempt to steal people's money and identities," said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant at Sophos. "Everyone should be suspicious if they are unexpectedly told that they have won a fortune. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

In order to claim their prize users have to give their name, address and bank details and are told to expect a cheque forthwith. It is not known how many people have fallen for the scam.
