Firefox vs. Internet Explorer, Ahead of IE8 and Firefox 3.1
For the past couple of years Internet Explorer has been on a downward spiral, albeit slow, but inching down with every passing month, with only Firefox to blame.

Vista x64 to require digital signatures for many drivers
With little fanfare, Microsoft just announced that the xX64 version of Windows Vista will require all kernel-mode code to be digitally signed. This is very different than the current WHQL program, where the user ultimately decides how they want to handle unsigned drivers.

21.2.2008Windows Media Player on Firefox
Have you been itching to enjoy
your media content on Firefox?
The Windows Media Player team
put a lot of work into
evolving media playback on
Windows Vista through the new
Media Foundation pipeline, and
has also been actively
monitoring feedback on WMP and
playback in general. While
commentary has been mainly
positive for Web playback
through IE, we've noticed
that there's still work to be
done to make Firefox users
able to enjoy their media
content on Windows.
We couldn't respond as
quickly as we would have liked
to (we had to get Windows
Vista out the door), but now
that it's shipped, the team
has moved its attention to
getting Firefox users up and
running. This week we are
happy to say that we have a
new plug-in
for Firefox that makes WMP
work once again -- and even
better than it did before!
It's easy to get the
new Firefox plug-in -- if you
navigate to a Web page today
that has the embedded WMP
ActiveX control, Firefox will
automatically grab the new
plug-in for you to install and
you will once again be able to
enjoy your media content

17.04.2007Live OneCare Home Page Crashes Internet Explorer 7 x64
So I'm sitting here trying to
get the Windows Live OneCare
version 1.6 story up on the
front page, and I can't
figure out why Internet
Explorer 7 keeps crashing.
I've never ever seen it crash
before. And yet, it always
seems to happily commit
suicide right before I'm done
putting the news article
together. I finally track the
problem down to the fact I
keep launching the OneCare
home page to grab the link.
Yes, you read
correctly. It would appear
that Microsoft's Windows Live
OneCare home page causes IE7
64bit to crash. I took the
liberty of downloading Firefox
x64 to make sure it had
nothing to do with 64bit web
browsers in general. Nope,
Firefox loaded the page just
fine. How embarrassing for
Microsoft. The issue has been
reproduced on two separate
Windows Vista machines with
entirely different
configurations. Can anyone
confirm the issue with IE7 x64
on XP?
Note: On
Vista x64, IE7 32bit will load
the site correctly.

06.06.2007Firefox 3.5 benchmarked, not as fast as Chrome
The results are in from benchmarks of Firefox 3.5, performed by ZDNet. The benchmarks test all the main browsers from Google Chrome 2.0.172.33,
Safari 4, Firefox 3.5, Firefox 3.0.5, Opera 10 Alpha and Internet Explorer 8. Each browser was put through three tests including SunSpider
javascript benchmark, V8 Benchmark Suite and finally the ACID 3 test. Firefox 3.5 was built for speed and performance, compared to previous
versions of Firefox. Firefox 3.5 performed better than Firefox 3.0.5 and Internet Explorer 8 in all three categories. From the graphs, it is clear
to see that Google Chrome performed the best overall, followed shortly by Safari 4 and then Firefox 3.5.

22.12.2005Firefox 3 Beta 4 review
Percy Cabello: Firefox 3 Beta 4 is about to be released (later today or tomorrow), as the twelfth milestone, in what already is the longest
development time for a Firefox version since the initial Firefox 1.0 back in 2004.
Fortunately, Mozilla has not been shy to set
as many milestones as needed, and given the many new features and tweaks Firefox 3 introduces, it seems anything but sensible, specially considering
its not only about Firefox but Gecko, the web page rendering engine and the Mozilla platform as a whole which affects the many products based on
it.
