EA announced today that it will be releasing a free online version of its
Battlefield franchise, driven by advertisements and micro-transactions called
Battlefield Heroes .
The main difference between Battlefield Heroes and FIFA Online is that there is
no limit to the potential for in-game advertisements in the former. Ads in the football game are limited to only those companies who already are FIFA
sponsors. The ads, fortunately, will appear in the front-end and not interfere with the aesthetics of the game.
Speaking of
aesthetics, the graphics of the game has been reported to be simplified into a much cartoonier style, and gameplay is supposed to pare down the skill
and strategy aspects.

You know how the Crysis demo was supposed to be delayed until tomorrow? Well, as it turns out, Crytek and EA have decided to release the demo one day
"early," effectively un-postponing it. The demo
is available on
FileShack, and it will eventually go up on Nvidia's
Nzone
website, as well.
As we explained earlier, the demo includes "Contact," the first level from the full game's single-player
campaign. Crytek has also tossed in its Sandbox 2 in-game editor, giving modders a chance to sharpen their mod-sticks before the full game comes out
on November 16.

offers PC gamers a quick look at what will possibly be the most advanced FPS ever created, you just have to swallow the huge 1.8GB download first. Im
sure many will agree that the demo is well worth the download though, offering the entire first level of the game which represents "roughly 45
minutes" of pure gameplay.
Today we are going to see how the various mid-range and high-end graphics cards handle this new and
exciting first person shooter. There will also be some brief visual quality comparisons along with some CPU scaling and DX9 vs. DX10 performance
charts. The single-player demo supports both DX10 and DX9 rendering in Vista while Windows XP users are limited to DX9. While the game has been said
to include 64-bit support, the demo can only be run in 32-bit mode, so there are no 32-bit vs. 64-bit comparisons just yet.

Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is sure to be one of this fall's hottest titles, in a year filled with big first-person shooter releases. Coming to
Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, a multiplayer beta test has already been conducted on Xbox Live. Now a single-player
demo of the PC version is
available.
The download is huge at 1.37GB, and includes one level from the single-player campaign. Developer Infinity Ward always
impresses us with their technology, and if suitable, we're eying the full game to be one of our standard PC graphics benchmark tests. Get a feel for
how well the game will run on your rig with the demo.
The recommended system specs are:

so don't even download if you
don't have a video card that
supports Shader model 3.0.
That being said, there is a
single and multiplayer demo
for you to sample Mr.
Fisher's next adventure, the
singleplayer demo clocks in at
850MB and the multiplayer demo
clocks in at 790MB. I do not
know what the multiplayer demo
contains, such as how many
maps or what you can play game
mode wise, so sorry about that
one. Same goes for the
singleplayer demo, I don't
know how far into the game you
can play.
So have
at it PC gamers, enjoy. And
make sure you give that brand
spanking new G80 video card a
test drive with these babies!
