29.11.2007Windows Vista Demo Readiness Toolkit
With a comprehensive demo script, sample content, and a preconfigured installation including user accounts and applications, you have everything you
need to demo with Windows Vista with virtually no effort.
NOTE: Installing the Demo Readiness Toolkit will completely erase all
data on your hard drive and create a Windows Vista Demonstration PC. Be sure to use a machine that can be re-formatted. Do you demonstrate Windows
Vista features? Or maybe you demo 3rd party applications, services, solutions and/or hardware with Windows Vista? With the Demo Readiness Toolkit,
your workload just got a whole lot lighter! With a comprehensive demo script, sample content, and a preconfigured installation including user accounts
and applications, you have everything you need to demo with Windows Vista with virtually no effort. No more searching for the right software, creating
user accounts, tweaking settings, or writing product/feature messaging - now you can focus on your pitch, NOT on building a demo environment.

01.04.2009Fifa '07 Holds on at the Top
Despite an abysmal performance
from England at the weekend
FIFA fans weren't put off and
continued to buy FIFA 07
making it number 1 in the UK
charts this week. Sales of the
title did slump 23 per cent,
but with no notable new games
the top 10 chart has no new
entries in it.
The
Xbox 360 only title, Project
Gotham Racing 3 managed to
break its way into the charts
on the back of a bundle with
the 360 console. UK gamers
could be forgiven for holding
out these next couple of weeks

popular Pro Evolution Soccer
due before the end of the

Dr
Kawashima's Brain Training
continues to hover around the
chart at eight, while Lego
Star Wars II: The Original
Trilogy fought its way back up
the charts to number two.

10.10.2006Crysis demo un-postponed, out now
You know how the Crysis demo was supposed to be delayed until tomorrow? Well, as it turns out, Crytek and EA have decided to release the demo one day
"early," effectively un-postponing it. The demo
is available on
FileShack, and it will eventually go up on Nvidia's
Nzone
website, as well.
As we explained earlier, the demo includes "Contact," the first level from the full game's single-player
campaign. Crytek has also tossed in its Sandbox 2 in-game editor, giving modders a chance to sharpen their mod-sticks before the full game comes out
on November 16.
winbeta.org -
27.10.2007Crysis demo performance in-depth
Crysis is a highly anticipated first person shooter developed exclusively for the PC by Crytek, the makers of the award-winning Far Cry. The demo
offers PC gamers a quick look at what will possibly be the most advanced FPS ever created, you just have to swallow the huge 1.8GB download first. Im
sure many will agree that the demo is well worth the download though, offering the entire first level of the game which represents "roughly 45
minutes" of pure gameplay.
Today we are going to see how the various mid-range and high-end graphics cards handle this new and
exciting first person shooter. There will also be some brief visual quality comparisons along with some CPU scaling and DX9 vs. DX10 performance
charts. The single-player demo supports both DX10 and DX9 rendering in Vista while Windows XP users are limited to DX9. While the game has been said
to include 64-bit support, the demo can only be run in 32-bit mode, so there are no 32-bit vs. 64-bit comparisons just yet.

As expected, id Software and Splash Damage have released the PC demo for their upcoming team-based multiplayer game, Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. The
demo
can be nabbed over at FileShack and
weighs in at a relatively reasonableby today's standard, at least727MB. Folks who download the demo will be able to enjoy the upcoming title's
Valley map, which is playable either online with other players or with bots.
According to a Shacknews report from last week,
minimum system requirements for the demo include a Pentium 4 2.8GHz or Athlon XP 2800+ processor, 512MB of RAM, a 128MB GeForce FX 5700 or Radeon 9700
graphics card, a DirectX 9.0c-compliant sound card, and a copy of Windows XP.
A note to users of AMD's latest Radeon HD
2000-series graphics cards, though: AMD
has released a
hotfix that it says improves performance in the Quake Wars demo. This hotfix is available for both Windows XP and Windows Vista.

02.04.2009Armed Assault Demo Released!
Thanks to Lovell for

A
850+ meg demo for Bohemia
Interactive's Armed Assault
has been released today! The
demo which is a multiplayer
only demo offers a small-ish
portion of the main island of
Sahrani. It supports CTF, Coop
and the CTI game mode. Coop
mode supports 1-8 players, CTF
supports 1-16 players and the
CTI mode supports 1-60
players. The demo limits the
selection of weapons, vehicles
and units you can use.
This demo is in
English and uses Gamespy for
the in-game server browser.
There are around 30 or more
servers now, and several of
them are running CTI and full
at this moment. So you will
have plenty of people to play
with. Unfortunately the game
does not offer any in-game
help or tutorials so there is
a large learning curve to
start with. Operation
Flashpoint veterans may have
an easier time, then again
maybe not. Enjoy folks!

22.12.2006EA experiments further with free, ad-subsidized games
EA announced today that it will be releasing a free online version of its
Battlefield franchise, driven by advertisements and micro-transactions called
Battlefield Heroes .
The main difference between Battlefield Heroes and FIFA Online is that there is
no limit to the potential for in-game advertisements in the former. Ads in the football game are limited to only those companies who already are FIFA
sponsors. The ads, fortunately, will appear in the front-end and not interfere with the aesthetics of the game.
Speaking of
aesthetics, the graphics of the game has been reported to be simplified into a much cartoonier style, and gameplay is supposed to pare down the skill
and strategy aspects.
