A US man has sold the domain name pizza.com for $2.6m (£1.3m) - after maintaining the site for just $20 a year since 1994.
Chris Clark, 43, accepted the offer from an anonymous bidder after a week-long online auction. Mr Clark registered the domain name in 1994, when the
world wide web was just starting. He had hoped that pizza.com would help to get a contract with a pizza firm for his consulting company.
He
sold his business in 2000, but kept paying the $20 annual fees for maintaining the domain, which he also used to sell advertisements.
Mr Clark has admitted regretting that he did not purchase more domain names in the 1990s, when many (now) popular domain names were still available.

page with suggestions and links." That's how Comcast have described their latest service anyway. But what Comcast describe as a "Domain
Helper" has been referred to as DNS hijacking by others. Like many ISPs, Comcast now redirects their customers to a search page, but what they

The latest internet domain, the .asia registry, has been switched on and new domain names are now available on a first-come first-served basis. Domain
registrar EuroDNS claimed that over 150 million names have already been registered.
Xavier Buck, chief executive at EuroDNS, explained
that, during the general registration process, the registry awards the .asia domain name to the first person who submits the domain. "In contrast to
the previous Sunrise and Landrush phases, there will not be any auctions this time. Our new AsiaDNS/EuroDNS website platform is ready to receive all
applications," he said
