Apple has gone and posted up the financial results for operations during the second quarter of 2009. Not only this, but they commented on the
possibility of an Apple netbook in the future. According to the press release, "Apple sold 2.22 million Macintosh® computers during the quarter,
representing a three percent unit decline from the year-ago quarter. The Company sold 11.01 million iPods during the quarter, representing three
percent unit growth over the year-ago quarter. Quarterly iPhone units sold were 3.79 million representing 123 percent unit growth over the year-ago
quarter." Apple posted a revenue of $8.16 billion and a net quarterly profit of $1.21 billion. Apple has said the results exceeded their
expectations, despite the lacking economy.

One aspect of the Wall Street Journal article published today that we failed to mention in our previous coverage was that Apple is indeed working on a
new type of device.
According to The Wall Street Journal's sources, Apple is working on a portable device that is "smaller than its
current laptop computers but bigger than the iPhone or iPod Touch."
No other details were provided but there have been ongoing rumors
that Apple has been working on either a tablet or netbook device. In fact, some reports even combine the two concepts into a single touchscreen
device. Netbooks traditionally resemble smaller laptop computers and typically include a keyboard. Apple's ongoing research into multi-touch,
however, has generated speculation that Apple may incorporate more advanced gesturing into a future device.

Today, Apple's COO Tim Cook during the Q1 2009 Conference Call announced that Apple has no interest in making a watered-down iPhone. Cook also stated

Microsoft announced that they have removed the netbook restrictions that previously prevented users from installing any version of Windows 7 on their
netbook. The lifted restriction means users can install Windows 7 starter on a netbook, and that the three application restriction has been removed
as per consumer's request. "OEMs and ODMs have the choice to install any version of Windows on a netbook," a Microsoft UK spokesperson said.
"
Starter is an entry version and doesn't have many of the consumer or business features. The three application limit isn't there
anymore." Windows 7 Starter and Home Basic variety only come in 32bit versions and are missing a variation of features from the higher end versions.

NVIDIA to make own Tegra-powered netbook
NVIDIA confirmed its plans to release its own netbook PC with its own Tegra chip before the end of 2009. The Tegra chip is so far only used in the Zune HD portable multimedia player and uses hardware
acceleration of 720p resolution HD video while using up a minimum of just 150mW. While final specs are not known, NVIDIA is showing a prototype model
built by Mobinnova which sports an 8.9-inch screen, Wi-Fi, a 3G data radio and
a webcam. It currently runs on Microsoft's Windows CE operating system, but NVIDIA says the final product could run on Google's Android.
