Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor Beta
It looks like Microsoft wants to make sure you know if your computer is ready for Windows Vista. Currently, the beta only works on Windows XP systems. Chances are, if you are running something older than Windows XP, your computer won?t run Windows Vista anyways. It?s nice to see a downloadable tool in advance. So that you do not have to buy Windows Vista and then find out your computer won't run it.

Windows Vista Beta 1 vs. Mac OS X "Tiger
From Paul Thurrotte's SuperSite:
In part one of my comparison of Windows Vista Beta 1 and Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger," I looked at three key aspects of each system: Look and feel, desktop search, and data visualization and organization. For the most part, OS X came out well ahead of Windows Vista, as you'd expect, since it's a polished finished product. Vista, meanwhile, is all knees and elbows, an awkward teenager on its way to maturity.
. Microsoft will iron out the details, I'm sure, but the end result will likely not change much. Specifically, OS X will always be elegant, and Windows will almost certainly lag behind in the fit and finish department. The only questions are how much Vista will improve when compared to previous Windows versions, and whether it will be enough to keep customers from moving to OS X.

Microsoft Mulls Canceling Windows Vista Beta 2
In its manic bid to keep Windows Vista on track despite constant development delays, Microsoft could cancel its eagerly anticipated Beta 2 milestone and simply utilize Community Technical Preview (CTP) releases until Release Candidate 0 (RC0) is ready in March or April 2006. According to my sources, this plan would allow the company to continue plotting the final release of Windows Vista for the third quarter of 2006.

03.01.2009No Public Windows Vista Service Pack 1 Beta anytime soon
Microsoft asked us to inform
you on the current state of
Windows Vista SP1 beta:
"There will be a Windows
Vista service pack and our
current expectation is that a
beta will be made available
sometime this year. Service
packs are part of the
traditional software lifecycle
- they're something we do for
all Microsoft products as part
of our commitment to
continuous improvement, and
providing early test builds is
a standard practice that helps
us incorporate customer
feedback and improve the
overall quality of the
product.
Service
packs are just one example of
the work we do to constantly
improve the Windows
experience. We also deliver
improvements to Windows via
Windows Update, which is an
excellent channel for
providing our customers with
the most significant updates
as they happen. And, since
Windows Vista launched, we
have continued working with
partners to improve overall
device coverage and
application compatibility.
There are now more than 2.1
million supported devices and
more than 2,000 logoed
applications for Windows
Vista. We think customers will
have a great experience using
Windows Vista today."
So the only release
that's occurring is a limited
Beta to a very small, very
select group of advance
customers. A public version of
the Beta is not being released
this week, nor next, nor in
July, nor anytime in the
immediate future.

February 2007 conducted few weeks after Vista's launch found just 10% of the respondents expressed satisfaction.

25.05.2006Bill Gates admits: Vista delay
Possible
During a presentation at Cape
Town, Bill Gates talked a lot
about Vista.
He
said that Microsoft was
spending between $8 billion
and $9 billion on both Windows
Vista and Office 2007 and that
partners would be spending 20
times more for developing
applications for Windows
Vista.
But the
most interesting bit is the
following:
"If the
feedback from the beta tests
shows it is not ready for
prime time, I'd be glad to
delay it."
It's not a fact, Windows
Vista could still ship when
promised, but this way, there
shouldn't be a surprise if
Microsoft announces another
delay for its next operating
system, seeing as how
disappointed are most beta
testers by seeing the current
build, Build 5456.

If you install the beta of Windows Vista Service Pack 2 (SP2) expecting to see visible changes to your version of Vista, you'll be sorely
