Measuring up Windows 7s new "super" taskbar

Long Zheng: For some users, one hurdle of the new "superbar" is its enormous size, or so it appears. To set the record straight, I conducted a little side-by-side experiment with two quick-launch items and two active applications on both Vista and Windows 7. Together with a measuring tape in one hand and a magnifying glass in the other, I counted. Soon enough, I grew impatient and resorted to Photoshop instead. Here's how they measured up...

Google opens click-fraud Web site

Google has unveiled a Web site "resource center" focused on the thorny issue of click fraud, which many consider a potential threat to the company's main source of revenue: Pay-per-click advertising.

Google developed the new Ad Traffic Quality Resource Center primarily to give its advertisers a single place to find Google's information about click fraud, said Shuman Ghosemajumder, business product manager for trust and safety at Google, on Friday.

In the pay-per-click format, advertisers pay every time someone clicks on their ads, which are linked to a Web page. Click fraud happens when companies click on competitors' ads to drive up their ad spending. Another common click-fraud practice is for Web publishers to click on their sites' ads to increase their commissions. ..

Bots Driving Click Fraud

Bot nets are driving up click fraud, according to Click Forensics, a click auditing company.

"This is a growing problem for the industry and one that's getting worse and not better," said Tom Cuthbert, president and CEO of Click Forensics, Inc.

The company's findings are based on data from its Click Fraud Network, which attempts to identify and track pay-per-click advertising fraud across over 4,000 online advertisers and ad agencies.

Click Forensics claims that the overall industry average click fraud rate during the second quarter of the year was 15.8%, up from 14.8% in the previous quarter and from 14.1% during the second quarter of 2006. Traffic from bot nets -- coordinated groups of computers that have been subverted by an attacker -- doubled from Q1 to Q2 this year, the company says, and

Yahoo appoints click fraud tsar

Yahoo has promoted one of its staff attorneys to an executive-level position that is akin to being click fraud tsar at the second largest web search provider.

For seven years, Reggie Davis helped the web search company defend itself against lawsuits by advertisers who claimed they were overcharged for pay-per-click ads that resulted from click fraud. Click fraud occurs when clicks are generated by people paid to click ads over and over or by automated software programs, usually for the purpose of boosting revenue for the website the ads appear on.

Now, Davis is the company's first vice president of marketplace quality, responsible for reducing the amount of click fraud and making sure advertisers and publishers are happy with the company's display and search listings.

Google steps up click fraud war

Google is to introduce a new service to its AdWords advertisement management service in April that allows clients to block certain users from seeing their ads. The move will allow advertisers to further combat click fraud, a phenomenon in which website operators click on ads on their own websites to boost revenues, or click on online ads for their competitors to deplete their marketing budgets.

Controlling who is presented with the advertisements allows a company to prevent them from being seen by competitors. Click fraud is considered the Achilles heel of pay-per-click advertising. When advertisers are no longer able to rely on the accuracy of the billing system, they are likely to lose faith in the service.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet ExplorerMainFeatureControl
3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click Key.

Most importantly, the podcast feed does not need to be in the Zune Marketplace for the link to work. The format is as follows (spaces between words in the PodcastTitle will work):
