08.01.2009Windows 7 On Track For 2010 Release
That's the year we'll make contact, and not before.
Chris Flores, the head of Microsoft Featured Communities confirmed to Neowin by
stating "As most of you are well aware, there has been quite a bit of recent speculation about Win7. While I am not at liberty to discuss the details
of Win7 (yet) I do want to set the record straight that we are still shooting for 2010 - 3 years from the launch of Vista."
Bearing in
mind that 2010 is just a little under a year and a half away, it's unreasonable to think that something would be released in between; however we
can speculate that SP2 for Windows Vista will come before then and may introduce some new features making the upgrade from XP worthwhile. Pure
speculation of course!

09.04.2008Do Microsoft users want cheap Office or Web-based Office?
Mary Jo Foley: Would some of the folks clamoring for Microsoft to release a completely Web-based version of its Office suite be just as happy if
Microsoft released a stripped-down Office that was really cheap, or maybe even free and advertising-supported?
I think they
would. I am an Office user. I dont have a need for a Web-based version of Office, as I only create, edit and manipulate my Office documents on my
laptop. I dont want or need to log into Office from some other computer somewhere else. I seldom need or want to collaborate with others on documents.
I believe I am not alone.

20.02.2008Quad-Core on the cheap: AMD Athlon II X4 620 reviewed
AMD is launching a new series of affordable quad-core processors today under the Athlon II brand name. Based on the 'Propus' architecture and
built using a 45nm design process, the new series is intended to help AMD secure the low-end portion of the market, as Intel's Core i5 750 and
LGA1156 platform have clearly made life difficult for them on the mainstream front. This is essentially the same Deneb architecture that is used by
the Phenom II X4 series, except for the L3 cache which has been removed from the Athlon II X4 parts.
