14.12.2005Firefox 3.5 benchmarked, not as fast as Chrome
The results are in from benchmarks of Firefox 3.5, performed by ZDNet. The benchmarks test all the main browsers from Google Chrome 2.0.172.33,
Safari 4, Firefox 3.5, Firefox 3.0.5, Opera 10 Alpha and Internet Explorer 8. Each browser was put through three tests including SunSpider
javascript benchmark, V8 Benchmark Suite and finally the ACID 3 test. Firefox 3.5 was built for speed and performance, compared to previous
versions of Firefox. Firefox 3.5 performed better than Firefox 3.0.5 and Internet Explorer 8 in all three categories. From the graphs, it is clear
to see that Google Chrome performed the best overall, followed shortly by Safari 4 and then Firefox 3.5.

15.09.2009Memory test - Firefox 2.0.0.9 vs Firefox 3.0 b 1
Does Firefox 3.0 beta 1 do a better job of handling memory than earlier versions? In a test put Firefox 3.0 beta up against Firefox 2.0.0.9 in a
series of tests.
Before I go any further, a few disclaimers and notes. First off, I’ve carried out this test on a single system
running Windows Vista Home Premium on which Firefox had not been previously installed. The system has 2GB of RAM. Both Firefox 2.0.0.9 and Firefox
3.0 b 1 were installed fresh using a standard install. For each test I visited the same web pages and did my best to make the browsing the same on
both versions.
OK, with that out of the way, on with the tests. I simulated three different browsing scenarios:
- Loading a five
pages into the browser
- Loading a single page and leaving the browser for 10 minutes
- Loading 12 pages into the browser and wait 5
minutes

usage degradation over time, while Chrome and Firefox 3.5 are more reliable in freeing memory to the OS.

30.04.2009Google Chrome "RTMs"
After quite a wait, Google has released the final version of its Chrome browser.
Featuring better stability, more speed (if you can
imagine it getting any faster), tighter security, and things such as auto-filling forms, and RSS support, Google is finally ripping off the BETA
sticker from Chrome.
They note that their work is far from over; they'll be hard at work adding new features, and improving on existing
ones.
The glamour of this release is dependent on the crowd; people who have been looking for a simple, fast, easy-to-use browser are in
for a treat. On the other end of the spectrum, firefox addicts who drool over plugins, widgets, and the abundance of features available in other
browsers were less than impressed with this release.
Comments such as "It can successfully pull me away from Firefox" and "There are
like 10 options in the "Options menu", and only 2 are even worth changing." show just how vast that spectrum is.
It'll be up to you
to try it out; you'll never be able to like it if you don't try it.
