Is Windows 7 the Linux-netbook killer?

Google Hints at Netbook, Microsoft Says 'Bring It On'

It's not very surprising as we've all speculated a full-fledged Google OS for years, then Google's mobile OS hit the phone market, and now we've seen it (Android, of course) already installed and working dutifully on netbooks. It's not rock-solid, but Google's CEO has hinted that there'll be subsidized, Android-powered netbooks backed by Google or its partners arriving to the netbook scene soon.

A single Windows platform for phones and PCs: Can it be done?

Some see Android as the biggest looming competitor to Microsoft’s Windows Mobile. In fact, Android is more than that: It is a potential threat to both the Windows Mobile and Windows client platforms.

So does it stand to reason that Microsoft is planning a single line of defense against the Android platform? Or will it continue to field different operating systems, optimized for different devices and processors, as opposed to a single Windows variant, to compete with Android?

The S121 netbook is equipped with a 1.33GHz Intel Atom microprocessor and uses their touch mode software on Windows 7. Windows 7 will be available once it hits the market later this year. A few weeks back Neowin discussed whether Windows 7 is the Linux-netbook killer and we got great response from our users.
