Chinese authorities appear to have blocked access to Apple's U.S. iTunes Music Store, following the release of the 20-song "Songs for Tibet - The
Art of Peace" collection Wednesday. Users in Beijing, Shanghai and Shenzhen confirmed that since as early as Wednesday morning, Beijing time, they
began receiving "unknown error" messages when they tried unsuccessfully to access the store. Although Apple does not operate an iTunes Store in
China, users may download free content such as podcasts, and those with U.S. credit cards may buy content from the U.S. store.
Although
Amazon.com remains available in China, its pages for both the "Songs for Tibet" CD and download page fail to load, returning: "The connection was
reset. The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading," the most common error message received for blocked sites.

Mobile phone operator, China Unicom, has signed a 3-year deal with Apple to bring the iPhone to China. The first iPhones will ship sometime in the
fourth quarter this year according to TechCrunch. Both the iPhone and the iPhone 3GS will be launched in China this year. Interestingly, the iPhones
being sold in China will not have WiFi functionality. This has been one bone of contention between Apple and Chinese carriers. China Unicom has not
announced their pricing for the iPhone or what their service plans will be, however, according to The Wall Street Journal, the Chinese carrier plans
to keep the price down by offering subsidies to customers.

Amazon have debateably one of the best iPhone optimised websites to date, and as of today, also have an iPhone and iPod touch application available.
Along with all the usual features you'd expect from Amazon (purchasing goods, one-touch checkout, order checking), there is also something called
"Amazon Remembers". Effectively, you can take a photograph of an item, send it to Amazon over the phones modem, or via wireless lan if you have an
iPod touch device, and Amazon will try to identify a similar product for you to buy. They use a fold out chair as an example on their website, which
you can find here. (Seems to be available in the US only at the moment*)

regarding its ebook reader the 'Kindle'. Sadly, not in such a good light. In an act of bizarre irony Amazon has remotely deleted copies of
the George Orwell novels, Animal farm and Nineteen Eighty Four off of an abundance of Kindles last night. This news came with little explanation from
Amazon, instead simply refunding the purchase price of the piece of literature.
